I have chosen Michelle Romero as my community hero. She is a nurse who offered her medical services for free during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a time of fear and uncertainty, Michelle became a symbol of hope and solidarity.

Reasons for my choice

• Michelle’s actions went beyond professional duty. While many health workers were overwhelmed, she volunteered to help families who couldn’t afford private care. She visited homes, monitored symptoms, provided emotional support, and educated people about safety measures. Her work was especially important in low-income areas, where access to healthcare was limited.

Honouring My Hero

To honour Michelle Romero, I propose a community tribute with two elements: A Public Mural: Painted on a local clinic wall, showing Michelle in her nurse uniform surrounded by symbols of care—hands, hearts, and masks. This would be a lasting reminder of her contribution. A Health Scholarship in Her Name: A local fund could be created to support young students who want to study nursing or medicine, inspired by Michelle’s example. This proposal not only celebrates Michelle’s bravery but also encourages future generations to serve with heart and purpose.
