when was mesoamerica around?

Mesoamerica was present around 1500 BCE, as a cultural area and concept.

first move from africa

When the climate made it possible to migrate, modern humans moved to the Middle East.

warming latitudes

Modern humans moved across India into Southeast Asia to avoid cold climates

Squash cultivation

Squash seeds, rind fragments and stems found in White Cliff Cave show that America's agriculture began 10,000 years ago, about the same time as in the Middle East and Asia.

earliestt modern humans

New DNA and old human fossils show all modern humans descended from a female ancestor that lived in africa 200 thousand years ago.

LAND BRIDGE

As sea levels rose due to melting glaciers, modern humans had only a few thousand years to reach the Americas.

lowered sea levels

Due to glaciers being at an all time maximum, sea levels were severely low.

severe drought

In Africa, glaciers began to advance. This created a severe drought, which caused the following.

  • Split modern humans up into small groups
  • Severely endangered modern humans
