THE CREATION OF LOS ANGELES 1781
Los Angeles was founded on September 4, 1781, by 44 settlers from Mexico, which was then under Spanish rule. They settled near the Los Angeles River and built adobe houses. The village was small, with farms, some animals, and a simple organization based on agriculture. The full name of the village was "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles", which reflects the strong Spanish religious influence. After Mexico gained independence in 1821, the region became Mexican, then American in 1848 after a war between the two countries. Thanks to the railroad, the discovery of oil, and the growth of Hollywood, the city expanded rapidly in the 20th century. Today, Los Angeles is a large metropolis, but its humble beginnings remind us of the Spanish and Mexican heritage of California.
The rise of hollywood (1910-1920)
In the early 1900s, many film studios moved to Los Angeles. The sunny weather all year round and the variety of landscapes made it easy to shoot movies. Studios were built in Hollywood, a neighborhood that quickly became the world center of cinema.Famous actors like Charlie Chaplin marked this era. The first films were silent, then came talking movies, which helped make Los Angeles known as the "City of Movies." The film industry created thousands of jobs and brought a lot of wealth to the city. Thanks to cinema, Los Angeles became a major city, known all over the world. Even today, Hollywood remains a key location for cinema, where many films and TV shows are produced every year.
the 1984 olympics games
In 1984, the city of Los Angeles hosted the Olympic Games for the second time, after the Games in 1932. These Games were very special because they were mostly funded by private companies, not by the government. This made it possible to organize the event without too much public spending.Even though some countries did not participate for political reasons, the Games were a great success. The city built new sports facilities, and the people of Los Angeles were very proud to host such an important event. The 1984 Olympic Games are often considered one of the best in modern history. They gave a new image to the Olympics by showing that it was possible to organize them efficiently without wasting public money. Today, these Games are still seen as a positive example for future Olympic events.

Chinatown movie
Chinatown (1974), directed by Roman Polanski, tells the story of Jake Gittes, a private detective in Los Angeles during the 1930s. While investigating an adultery case, he uncovers a major corruption scandal related to water control, an important issue for the city's growth. The film shows a dark and mysterious Los Angeles. In a famous scene, Jake drives through the San Fernando Valley, where you can see irrigation canals and dry land.
