Formas del verbo TO BE

Present simple: am, is, are Past simple: was, were Contractions: I’m, he’s, we’re, etc.

TO BE en presente (am / is / are)

Estructura: Sujeto + to be + complement

The engine is noisy today. (El motor está ruidoso hoy). This car is very fast. (Este auto es muy rápido). The mechanics are ready for the repair. (Los mecánicos están listos para la reparación)

TO BE en pasado (was / were)

Sujeto + was/were + complemento
The battery was dead yesterday. (La batería estaba descargada ayer). The mechanic was busy with the brake system. (El mecánico estaba ocupado con el sistema de frenos). The cars were in the workshop last week. (Los autos estaban en el taller la semana pasada).
