Conceptual Understanding
The Conceptual Understanding tool doesn’t just summarize the topic; it explicitly suggests ways to explore it through examples and approaches. For my example on "feminist theory of information warfare," it points to:
  • Real-world case studies (like attacks on female politicians or journalists)
  • Historical patterns connected to modern technology (propaganda vs. social media disinformation)
  • Analytical frameworks (intersectional analysis)
So it guides the student toward concrete ways to engage with the concept, rather than just giving a definition or summary. It’s more of a thinking partner for exploring a topic from multiple angles.
College and Career Counseling
This tool can provide students with guidance and tips for building their experience and navigating a career search. Students can ask follow up questions and provide specific information to get focused results.
Expand on My Idea
This tool provides suggestions for developing an idea into a project. In this example, I put in an idea about writing a journal article about use cases for AI in graduate courses. The AI is very complimentary :)
Debate Partner
This is a very fun tool! I asked it to take a Con stance on the use of AI by graduate students. It gave me a lot to think about!
Writing Feedback
MagicSchool’s feedback highlights both the strengths and areas for growth in student writing, providing actionable insights that instructors can use to guide learning. Instructors may encourage students to use this tool to identify gaps in policy summaries, strengthen recommendations with evidence, and improve organization and focus in their essays. It can also help students spot mechanical issues, such as paragraph transitions and APA formatting errors, allowing them to self-correct before submission.
