WSCADV is the leading voice to end domestic violence in Washington State. They work to improve how communities respond to survivors and to create a world where all people can live and love without fear. In Her Shoes® is a groundbreaking experiential learning tool that helps participants understand the complex choices faced by people in abusive relationships. It is used in over 900 communities across the United States to educate professionals and the public about domestic violence.

Walk in Sierra's Shoes
My name is Sierra Banks and I’m 34 years old. I’m an enrolled member of a small tribe in eastern Washington and I’ve lived on our reservation all my life. I have three children. Janie is 7, Sam Jr. is 9 and Christopher is 12. I’m a school teacher and I teach all the grades, but I really prefer to teach the little ones. You can make such a difference in their lives. I take my job seriously, as seriously as I take being a mother and a wife. Sam and I have been married for fifteen years, but we’ve known each other since we were kids. I remember showing him when one of my baby teeth fell out. We were best friends when we were kids. Then we drifted apart for a few years. Our first “date” was a pow wow when I was nineteen years old. He got all dressed up and gave me a single yellow rose. Everyone told us we were the most beautiful couple in the world. I fell in love with him that night. The problems began later.
