500 Series Interactive Guide

Scenario Introduction

• Scenario begins in the patient’s room.
• Natalie will provide background to the patient and tips on interacting in the virtual environment

Communication

• To speak with the patient: Press and hold the A button while you talk. Release it when you’re finished to hear their response.
• To speak with your colleague: Press and hold the A button, say “Natalie”, then continue your message.

Moving around the room

To move left or right / turn: Push the left thumb-stick sideways.

Teleporting across the room

To teleport: Point your right controller at the floor and press the thumb-stick until a blue circle appears. Release the thumb-stick to move to that spot.

Hand hygiene

• To sanitize your hands: Place your hands over the gel pump on the cart to your left.
• To wash your hands: Teleport to the sink and place your hands inside.

Monitor Vital Signs

• To pick up equipment: Grip items such as the thermometer, sats probe, or BP cuff by pressing the side trigger on either controller.
• To use equipment: Place the item onto the patient, following the ghost outline for guidance.
• To mute the monitor: Use the mute button on the monitoring screen.
• To repeat blood pressure: Press the BP button on the monitoring screen.

Examine Patient

• To examine the patient: Pick up equipment from the cart to your right.
• To use equipment: Follow the orbs to place it correctly on the patient.
• To adjust position: Move the patient forwards if required.

Observe / Palpate

• To open the wrist menu: Flip your left hand to reveal the menu.
• To palpate: Select Palpate from the menu.
• To observe: Select Observe from the menu.

Investigations

• To run investigations and tests: Pick up the required equipment from the cart to your right.
• To use equipment: Follow the ghost outline to place it correctly on the patient.

Provide oxygen

• To select oxygen delivery: Choose the appropriate method from the wall to your left.

• To apply oxygen: Pick up the equipment and use the ghost outline to place it on the patient.

• To set oxygen level: Adjust the oxygen dial on the wall to your left.

Using the Tablet

• To access documentation: Pick up the tablet from the cart to your right.
• To view patient information: Use the tablet to open documentation, results, and guidelines.
• To enlarge documents: Select the Expand option on the tablet.

Using the Phone

• To use the phone: Pick up the phone from the cart to your right.
• To make a call: Scroll through the list and select who you want to contact.

Medication Administration

• To access medication: Teleport to the Medication Dispensing System.
• To provide medication: Use the touchscreen to view patient details and administer the correct drugs.
• For emergencies: Use the Crash Cart to give emergency medication.

Fluid Management

• To access fluids: Teleport to the fluid administration device.
• To provide fluids: Scroll through the options and select the required type.

Scenario Timing

To check remaining time: Look at the countdown clock on the wall to your right.

Adjust your Settings

• To open scenario settings: Press the menu button on your left controller.

• To adjust settings: Use the touchscreen to select and modify the relevant options.
• To view the controller guide: Open Settings and select the Controls option.

Leaving the Scenario

• To exit the scenario: Look at the door.
