The human body
LIFE FUNCTIONS
The human body performs 3 functions: NUTRITION, INTERACTION and REPRODUCTION. NUTRITION includes: * Respiration. * Circulation. * Digestion. * Excretion.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
The organs help us breath in OXYGEN and breath out CARBONE DIOXIDE.
nose
1. We breathe IN air through our NOSE and MOUTH.2. The air travels DOWN the TRACHEA and into 2 tubes: the BRONCHI. They take air INTO the lungs. 3. The air INSIDE the lungs goes into the ALVEOLI (Small sacs) 4. The alveoli transfer OXYGEN from the air into the blood. 5. The BLOOD transfers CARBON DIOXIDE into the alveoli. This process is a "GAS EXCHANGE". 6. We breathe OUT the carbone dioxide from our nose and mouth.

circulatory SYSTEM
It transports OXYGEN and NUTRIENTS inside our bodies. It includes the HEART, BLOOD VESSELS and BLOOD.
Our HEART pumps BLOOD round the body through 3 BLOOD VESSELS: a) ARTERIES: take the blood from our HEART to the rest of the body. b) VEINS: transfer BLOOD from our body back to our HEART. c) CAPILLARIES: small blood vessels that conect arteries and veins.

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
It HELPS our body absorb NUTRIENTS from the food we eat.
mouth
1. Digestion starts in our mouth. 2. Food travels down the OESOPHAGUS into our STOMACH and into the SMALL INTESTINE. 3. The small intestine separates the nutrients from the waste. 4. The waste passes into the LARGE INTESTINE and leaves our body through the ANUS.

EXCRETORY SYSTEM
It ELIMINATES waste from our body.
1. Our KIDNEY make URINE filtering BLOOD and separating the waste and water in our body. 2. URETERS carry the URINE to the BLADDER.

bladder
urethra
3. URINE leaves the bladder through the URETRA. 4. We also eliminate waste through our skin (SWEAT)
reproduction
It happens when male and female cells combine and make one cell.
Male Reproductive System
Testicles: they produce the male cells.
Penis: small tubes conect the penis to the testicles.
Urethra: a tube in the penis that helps the male cells to travel outside your body.
reproduction
Female Reproductive System
Ovary: the main reproductive organ.
Fallopian tubes: they connect the ovary to the uterus.
Uterus: where a baby grows during pregnancy.
Vagina: it connects the uterus to your body outside.
Vulva: It protects the reproductive organs.
interaction
It includes: * LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM * THE SENSE ORGANS * THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM
It INCLUDES skeleton, joints and muscles.
We need our skeleton to support our body and to protect our organs. It has 3 parts: SKULL, TORSO and LIMBS. The skeleton´s bone come together at JOINTS.

nervous SYSTEM
The nervous system has the BRAIN, SPINAL CORD and NERVES. 1. Our 5 senses help us receive information. 2. Nerves carry the information from the sense organs to the BRAIN. 3. The BRAIN analyses and interprets this information. 4. The spinal cord and brain work together to send messages to different parts of the body, through the nerves.
