Instructions for Students

Group of 4 Choose roles: Cantaclara, Stepmother, Griselda, Hortensia, and TV Host. Read and act each of the 5 short scenes. You may use your script (no need to memorize everything). Use gestures: cleaning, washing dishes, singing, clapping, pointing at the TV, etc. After acting, each group must create and choose their favorite ending for the play. Examples: Cantaclara becomes rich and never returns home. Cantaclara forgives her stepmother and sisters. The stepsisters decide to help with the chores. Cantaclara travels to another city with her money. Perform your ending for the class.

Scene 1: At Home

The stepmother and the two stepsisters are sitting. Cantaclara is cleaning the table.

Scene 2: The Commercial

Cantaclara enters the bedroom and sees the TV.

Scene 3: The Argument with the Stepmother.

Cantaclara is getting ready to leave the house.

Scene 4: At the Show

Cantaclara sings her favorite song. Everyone claps.

Scene 5: In the Living Room

The stepmother and the stepsisters are watching TV.
