What is the Heliosphere?

The heliosphere is like a large bubble around our solar system that protects us from the harmful radiation in space.

The heliosphere is created by the Sun's solar wind, which travels around one million miles per hour and creates a protective shield around our solar system.

It looks like an oval because the Sun is moving through space as it orbits the Milky Way Galaxy. As it moves, the back streams out into a tail. The front is squished by the gas and dust coming from space, which is called interstellar medium.
