ESTATUA JOSEP TOMÀS I VENTOSA
We will start the tour at the square of Vilanova i la Geltrú. The square has a rich and complex history. At the end of the 18th century, the Capuchin convent that occupied its site was demolished by Josep Tomàs Ventosa, one of the "Americanos" who had become rich in Cuba. Ventosa bought the convent and demolished the building to build free schools. This construction was a crucial point in the history of the city, as it contributed to its education and social development. The Plaça de la Vila is a testament to the colonial past and the growth of Vilanova i la Geltrú as a modern city.
