Introduction
Learning a new language is often a lonely path where learning depends on the student, but it doesn't have to be this way. Cooperative Language Learning (CLL) encourages students to walk this path with support, creating a team where bridges are built through collaborative work or teams, and is based on communication. More than a method, CLL is about creating a classroom community.
Theoretical Background
Collective cooperative learning (CCL) is said to be based on cooperative work, as its name suggests, a concept that aims for group learning over individual learning. It also focuses on interdependence, expecting students to support each other so that everyone benefits.,Richard and Rodgers (2014) emphasize that it is deeply connected to constructivist thinkers such as Piaget and Vygotsky.
Role of the Student
Students play a central role within the class, where they are protagonists, speakers, collaborators, and sometimes even teachers.Students are responsible not only for their own progress, but also for that of their peers, developing social skills in a safe place to take risks and learn with effort.
Role of the teacher
The teacher's role in collaborative learning is not about being an authority figure, but rather a guide on a shared path.Teachers become facilitators of interaction but intervene when necessary. This role requires patience, flexibility, and the creation of genuine collaboration.
Representative Activities
The jigsaw puzzle is a perfect example to explain how this can work successfully. Think-Pair-Share, on the other hand, creates a space for silent reflection that will allow for a discussion with a classmate and ultimately share it with the rest of the class. Providing space for group projects, peer tutoring, and collaborative writing also enhance the role of CLL.

How it works:Each child receives one piece of the picture + one piece of the sentence. Only by working together they can rebuild the full image and the complete English sentence. This activity shows the essence of Cooperative Language Learning (CLL): positive interdependence.
Advantages and Disadvantages
They acquire social skills such as listening, negotiating, and encouraging others.
CLL helps boost motivation and reduce anxiety, which is one of its greatest strengths.
Challenges may arise and teachers must carefully consider the details of their planning, so that it can work profitably and encourage everyone to participate as much as possible.
Students feel supported, and learning is a collective achievement.
Conclusion
Cooperative Language Learning is not just about vocabulary and grammar; it is about creating bonds with the students. When students interact with each other and work together, it goes beyond just receiving information; they learn to communicate with people. Especially in primary education, Cooperative Language Learning creates a space that motivates students through its safe environment and inspires them to explore new knowledge.
