"Who Better Than

Me?"

Hey, I'm Samiya and this is my journey of growth and in genuine self-expression through lessons from who better than you. I've learned how to pivot ,show up, and own my moment. This pitch desk reflects who I am and who I'm going to become.

The Fortuitous "No"

The Power of a Fortuitous No

Last year, I applied for a camp counselor role at a summer camp and didn't get it. That "no" felt so disappointing but, it led me to another counselor role at another summer camp, where I felt very connected with the kids. I built trust and learned how to support other others emotionally that pivot helped me grow on ways I never expected.

"Always Be a Doer, Not a Talker"

Our brains are hardwired to consume visual content. Some facts: we receive 90% of the information we process through sight and we process visual content up to 60,000 times faster than text. That’s why visual communication is more effective.

Take the Thunder

OUT!!

After experiencing sexual assault, I felt like my voice and power was taken from me. For a long time, fear and shame tried to define me and shape who I am. But I learned that healing starts when you reclaim your narrative. Another time I took the thunder out was when anxiety almost stopped me from applying for a leadership role. I reminded myself that fear doesn’t get to decide my future, I do. I pushed through, applied, and proved to myself that courage is louder than doubt. Speaking up, seeking support, and refusing to let that moment control my future was how I took the thunder out. I turned pain into strength and reminded myself that my story isn’t over, it’s mine to write.

Resiliance.

My Main Thing.

01

My main thing is resilience. Living with depression and anxiety has taught me that strength isn’t about never struggling, it’s about pushing forward even when it’s hard. I was always (and still do) used to overwhelm myself and I would hyperfixate on things and I wouldn't get to the more important things and It would take a big toll on my emotions and mental health. I'm slowly trying to do better day by day but sometimes I do tend to resort back to that. I want to use my experiences to inspire others to believe in their worth and keep going. I want to teach them that It's okay to fail and to try again, "Life is Like a starcase." My purpose is to create spaces where people feel safe, seen, and empowered to rise above challenges.
Adaptability

Adjust and keep moving.

02

Self - Compassion

Be kind not only to others but yourself too.

03

Purpose

Know your "why."
