It’s the base for many tenses in English, and its most basic form has several usages you can remember with the acrostic NOPALES

Verb to be SER O ESTAR

Let´s see some examples of each initial in NOPALES

  • He is Australian = Nationality
  • He is from Australia = Origin
  • He is a Doctor = Profession
  • He is 20 years old = Age
  • He is at home = Location
  • There are kangaroos in Australia = Existence
  • He is super tall = State of being (Adjectives)

VERB TO BE SIMPLE PRESENT

Verb to be Contracted forms
