You are just setting up your chair at South Beach having a relaxing time, thinking about your friend.

Suddenly, you feel a tap on the shoulder. “Good morning, I am Amity Island’s sheriff, Martin Brody. We need immediate cybersecurity help and we found that we just happen to have you on our island. We've heard how much training you've had at CaseWorthy, we need your help!"

Brody says, "The Amity Hospital has been compromised by a hacker who calls themself ‘JAWS’… clever. However, they hacked the hosiptal’s systems, including the digital cameras and electronic doors, and have now locked everybody inside. They’ve also accessed the system's medical records, and if we don’t give in to their ransom then they promised to release it all online. They are holding the people in the hospital hostage, and say that if we open the doors without paying the ransom they’ll blow it up. Will you please help us?”

Sheriff Brody says, "We had a report of a suspicous person over at the lighthouse, so you may want to start there. Lighthouse

You arrive at the lighthouse on the southwest corner of the island. There is a door which appears to be unlocked, but the lighthouse is eerily quiet and seems to not be occupied.

If you don't know as much about healthcare hacking as I do, you'll never find me! I'll leave clues because having a good chase is half the fun, but you'll never catch me. You enter the first floor of the lighthouse. As you close the door behind you, you hear an omnious click and the door appears to have locked behind you. You see a spiral staircase leading up, and near the bottom step you find a set of notes on the ground:

You arrive at the 3rd floor of the lighthouse. You can see the signaling beacon, and out the windows you can see the expanse of the island and the ocean around you. Your cell phone beeps again with a new message:

You decide to cut through the stairwell where you run into Mayor Vaughn. "This cybersecurity stuff is just horrifying to me, I'm glad we have you here. Do you have any ideas on how we could catch some of our security issues earlier? We need to protect the voters of Amity!"

I see you're cutting me off early now with leadership... I don't appreciate that. Don't worry, you still won't catch me. I'm just smarter than you are.

"That's a good idea" says Mayor Vaughn, "I'll get somebody on that as soon as this festival is over. After all, Amity Island is a town driven by tourists!"

You walk by and hear one of the county clerks talking to sombody at the window. He says, "it's no surprise that the city of Amity got hacked; our cyber security team is a joke. They should be paying more attention." Both people laugh.

You walk to the back corner where one of the city's IT staff sitting in frustration. You ask what the problem is, and he tells you that he's been using ChatGPT to create code for the city's systems, including ones supporting the hospital. Something has been malfunctioning and he can't figure it out. He pulled an all-nighter & doesn't know what happened...

Clever little inspector aren't you? Well, that IS how I got in... I found lots of their records and code in ChatGPT and I've used it. That bridge is now burned, but I'm still free and you won't catch me.

Way to go! You should never put sensitive code into unapproved gen AI agents, as they may use that code or allow other unauthorized indiduals to see it later. Suddenly, your phone buzzes again...

You get to the Dockside Inn and see that it's a very nice inn right on the west coast of the island. All the outer rooms face out to the ocean with balcony views. There's a large lobby, doors to the rooms both on the outside and through an inside hallway, and cafe off to the side. Where do you want to go?

It only takes a few minues to walk down both the 1st and 2nd floor halls. The only thing that's out of place is the door on room 218, which has a newly installed smart lock on it. Hrm... you know this model, it requires 6 numbers. Do you know what those 6 numbers are? Are you SURE? If not, you should keep looking

CLICK! The lock opens and you burst into the room which has the blackout curtains drawn and lights off. A young man wearing a hoodie sits with his back to you, in the middle of typing, but his fingers are frozen on the keyboard. "Are you JAWS?" you say "... the police are on their way now." The kid laughs. "Of course I'm JAWS. I'm glad I picked you... finally a worthy adversary." Then he sighs and drops his shoulders in defeat. VICTORY AT LAST!

Sheriff Brady shows up with agents from the local FBI. "Well done!" he says, "You figured it out and we've released all the people in the hospital." The FBI agent looks at the kid and laughs. He says, "Those darned kids. JAWS... I guess he thought it was funny. It's really just a hacker acronymn for:JustAnotherWeakScript-kiddie. We've been looking for this kid for a while. He's going to jail, thanks for the help. In fact, take this badge... you earned it." As they get in the car, the only thing you wonder is if there's enough time left in the day to get back and catch some rays. You ARE supposed to be on vacation after all...

Thanks for playing CaseWorthy's CSAM 2025 Escape Room, we hope you enjoyed it. You must have put in your name correctly at the beginning to get credit for the Escape Room. Since you've gotten here you have earned another entry for the grand prize, a Jaws 50th anniversary gift pack! You decide to sit in the lobby for a minute and collect your thoughts. "Excuse me" a young man asks from behind you, "aren't you the person helping with the computer security problem?" "I could use your help with two emails we received for the inn... I'm not sure which one to trust. I'm not very good with computers."

Right! 'Expired Credentials' was the phishing email. Then he says, "Thanks... what should I do first now that I think that's a phishing email?"

I almost had her, but I see you intervened. I grow tired of our game. The time of your meddelsome interference is soon to be at an end.

Exactly... clicking the "Phish Alert" button is the right first step. It will not only alert Cyber, but it can remove similar emails from other users's accounts. She shakes your hand, then you feel that famaliar buzz of your cell phone:

You Uber up to the dock and as soon as you're out the driver leaves without a word. You look around and your skin crawls... it's just creepy. All the buildings have worn paint peeling off of old wood and there's a general sense of disrepair. There are bones of fish lying everywhere from the seagulls who feast off what ever falls off the boats when they bring back their catch. You see the occassional eye look around the corner of a window, then shut the blinds suddnely to the obvious outsider that you are. The smell of rot and fish guts is overwhelming, and the brackish water is washing up aginst the pylons on the rising tide as you walk further down the dock.

You're looking for clues when a voice crashes through the bleakness, catching you off-guard and making you jump a little bit. There's a salty old sea captain leaning against the rail of his boat, which on the back says is named the Orca. "Yah huh cheif" the tall man says, with the butt of a long-dead cigarette smoking in his hand, "... ya' ain't from around dese parts." He looks you up and down apprasingly. "I be Qunit, and you look like you be lost or you need help. Quint be the man to help you out here."

You are struggling making out what he says when your cell phone chimes. "Hey cheif, ya' be all technical I see" he says when you pull out your smartphone. Quint gives you a thoughtful look.

"I'll tell ya' cheif" Quint says as he crushes the cigarette with the heel of his boot, "ya' look mighty young " He looks you up and down apprasingly. "I bet a young'n like you be on Facebook... I just signed up myself. What's yer' name and I be frending you?" He looks you up and down... "How old are ya' anyway chief... when's yer' birthday? You look like a dog person don't ya' chief... what was your first pet's name?" He keeps rattling questions at you.

Good decision... he seems dodgy and it feels like Quint is trying to social engineer you to get information about you and maybe your password. "Is that how it is cheif?!?" Quint yells, "ya' don't trust old Quint now do ye?" He gets a manic look in his eye and you take off back down the dock. You hear him screaning in the distance "I bet ye' think ye have better online friends than Quint do ya' chief?" Over your shoulder uou see him pull up his fishing knife just as you tear off around the corner and lose him.

It looks like the docks aren't a safe place to be, and you're pretty sure this isn't the hiding place of the cyber mastermind holding the city hostage. However, as you round the corner you see a stick note taped to the wall of the fish processing building; you snatch it as you sprint by.
