Know the Emergency Plan
- Review Site-Specific Emergency Procedures
- Understand evacuation routes, alarm systems, and emergency contacts.
Identify Emergency Equipment
- Know the location of fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency shut-off controls.
- Understand MEWP Emergency Features
- Be familiar with platform lowering procedures, emergency descent systems, and manual overrides.
Common Emergency Scenarios
- Mechanical Failure or Power Loss
- Operator Medical Emergency
- Fire or Electrical Hazard
- Weather-Related Events (e.g., lightning, high winds)
- Pedestrian Incident or Collision
Response Protocols
- Stop Work Immediately
- Cease all MEWP operations and secure the platform.
- Alert Site Supervisor or Emergency Services
Evacuate if Necessary
- Follow designated evacuation routes and assist others if safe to do so.
- Do Not Attempt Unauthorized Rescue
- Only trained personnel should operate emergency descent or rescue systems.
