By July 2031, the remnants of civilization are reorganized into Quarantine Zones, walled areas controlled by the military. Life inside is brutal, with food and medicine scarcity. Outside the walls, nature begins to reclaim the cities. Joel becomes a smuggler, living on the fringes of the law to survive. In 2032, a new and terrifying type of infected emerges: Clickers. These long-term infected are blind due to the fungus and use a 'clicking' sound to hunt their victims in the dark, making the world even more dangerous

A global tragedy
In January 2030, doctors in major cities began reporting strange cases of aggression. By February, it was discovered that the cause was the Cordyceps fungus, which had mutated to infect humans. Panic took over the world, and by March, cities were in complete chaos. Streets filled with abandoned vehicles, the smell of fear, and the sound of screams and gunshots marked the beginning of the post-apocalyptic era. Joel, a man from Austin, Texas, loses his daughter Sarah in the middle of this chaos, a tragedy that leaves him completely broken and symbolizes the end of normalcy for thousands of families.

In June 2033, a spark of hope appears: a teenage girl, Ellie, is immune to the fungus. The Fireflies, a resistance group, believe her blood can be the key to a vaccine that will save humanity. However, their relationship transforms from a simple mission to a father-daughter bond. Joel, who had lost all hope, finds a new reason to live in Ellie, and she discovers the outside world for the first time. Their connection is what keeps them alive in this brutal world
