introduction

“Meet Dot, CYBER.ORG's new mascot. With her lively personality and knack for making complex ideas fun and approachable, she’s not just code — she’s a digital explorer and cyber safety advocate! Today is Dot’s very first day on the internet!

Dot doesn’t know what’s safe and what’s risky yet, so you will be her digital safety coaches.

“This is the path Dot will take. Let’s see if she can make it to the end safely!”

What do we need to protect when we’re online?”

Dot logs on and starts to explore. What will she find?

Dot loves to zoom, but the internet isn’t a race. Going too fast can lead to mistakes!

Instruction: Use the Color Code for Cruise or Slow to teach Dot how to take it slow and make smart choices.

Oh no! Dot is at Popup Pond! The screen is covered in popups and ads trying to get Dot to click!

Instruction: Use the Zigzag Color Code to help Dot dodge the pop-ups safely.

At the end of this path is a stranger asking for Dot’s school name. That’s private info!

Instruction: Help Dot switch directions with Line Switch Right to get away without sharing anything.

Oops! Dot is going the wrong way online — but don’t worry! A trusted adult can help.

Instruction: Use the U-Turn code to show Dot how a grown-up can help her get back on track.

This part of the internet is full of tricky links. Let’s remind Dot to move super slow and read carefully.

Instruction: Use Short Super Slow to help Dot slow waaaay down and think before clicking.

Uh-oh! A trusted adult left their email open, and Dot is headed right for it!”

Instruction: Use Right at Intersection to steer Dot away — we don’t mess with other people’s accounts.

This mailbox belongs to a trusted adult, not Dot. If Dot ends up here, she made a mistake and stops!

Instruction: Don’t let Dot reach this — she plays a sad sound and ends the line. Restart if needed.

Dot is learning fast — and having fun! Let’s celebrate all she’s figured out so far!

Instruction: Use Spin to mark a fun moment or milestone along the journey.

Dot spotted something suspicious — a link that doesn’t look right. Let’s stay on course and keep moving.

Instruction: Use Line Switch Straight to avoid getting sidetracked by distractions or bait.

Oops! Dot is going the wrong way online again— but don’t worry! A trusted adult can help.

Instruction: Use the U-Turn code to show Dot how a grown-up can help her get back on track.

Someone just asked Dot for her password! Uh-oh! That’s not safe to share.

Instruction: Use Backwalk to make Dot reverse out of the situation — quickly and smoothly.

Right goes to a sketchy game download. Left goes to a fake prize offer. What should Dot do?

Instruction: Use Straight at Intersection to make the smart, middle-road choice and avoid both bad options.

The internet is a lot! Let’s give Dot a break to rest and think.

Instruction: Use Pause to remind students that unplugging sometimes helps us make better choices.

Dot made it to the end of her very first internet adventure — and she stayed safe the whole time thanks to YOU!

Instruction: Use Win/Exit to celebrate finishing the internet safety adventure. Cue happy sound!

“Dot’s ready for the internet now... but only because she had great coaches. Nice work, team!

THANK YOU!

We didn't let Dot share her password. We helped her avoid typing in her school name. She didn't open someone else's email.

Dot started out fast, but we helped her slow down. She dodged popups, didn't talk to a stranger, and checked in with a trusted adult. She made it to the end without getting tricked.

Popups that wanted her to click. A stranger asking questions. A fake prize offer. Link that might've been bad.

We taught her to stop and think before clicking. We showed her how to ask a grown-up for help. We told her not to click too fast. Dot learned to "Think, then click!" so she didn't make a mistake.
