Before domestication, sheep were wild, agile animals with coarse hair, horns and strong survival instincts. they lived in mountainous areas and shed their coats naturally.

after they were domesticated humans used selective breeding to alter the animals' appearance and behavior. This led to a cascade of changes that impacted both the sheep and human civilization

Sheep were first domesticated approximately 11,000 and 8,000 BCE in the Fertile Crescent of Mesopotamia and the nearby mountain zones of western Asia.
