1) In Dublin's fair city
Molly Malone is a famous character from an old Irish song. She was a young woman in Dublin who sold cockles and mussels in the streets. The song says that she died very young of a fever, but her memory lives on.
Today, “Molly Malone” is almost like an unofficial anthem of Dublin. People sing it in pubs, at football matches, and during festivals. In the city, there is even a statue of Molly Malone with her wheelbarrow. She has become a symbol of Dublin’s history, music, and spirit.
