Consider 4 Things
when deciding which will be your first, second, and last point
Put your Weakest in the Middle
Save the Best for Last!
Which point do you think is okay but you don't feel great about it? Which do you have the least ideas about?
Which point do you think will be your best? Which do you have the most ideas about?
Use Chronological Order
Use Logical Order
Does one effect lead to another effect? (This is a cause-effect chain.)
Is there one point that readers need to understand first in order to understand another idea?

Supporting Ideas
...often focus on "ways"
...could be part of a cause-effect chain
Details
Specific facts, examples, statistics
- These are mostly from your head, but you should have one or two details that come from research!
- Sentences from research need to contain appropriate in-text citations and have a matching Works Cited entry.
- Do not use transitions, except for example signals.
You have options!
...and more than 2.
- Just make sure that you have at least 6 detail sentences.
- Put the Supporting Idea with the most details last.
Topic Sentences
...are super important!
- Don't forget a transition to signal that this is your first main point.
- Your topic sentence is just a paraphrase of the thesis statement that focuses on the main point.
