Progression of ILA and CT UIP Pattern Classification
Module 2
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Identify radiologic features associated with progression of interstitial lung abnormalities, including subpleural reticulation, traction bronchiectasis, and honeycombing, and recognize their prognostic significance.
- Analyze serial CT imaging to assess disease evolution in patients with ILA, distinguishing between stable and progressive patterns based on longitudinal radiologic changes.
- Apply the 2018 ATS/ERS/JRS/ALAT guidelines to classify usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) patterns, assigning cases to typical, probable, indeterminate, or alternative diagnosis categories.
- Differentiate UIP from non-UIP fibrotic patterns, such as fibrotic hypersensitivity pneumonitis and nonspecific interstitial pneumonia, to support accurate diagnosis and guide treatment planning.
- Construct a diagnostic framework for interpreting progression of ILA and scoring UIP patterns on high-resolution CT, supporting early recognition of interstitial lung disease and optimized clinical decision-making.
