Lousiana Aspring Teacher Rubric
Ensurses that the content and assements provided to students are fit to the standards and currcilum the state follows. Students should have appripiate time for work fit to the age and grade and the content should follow.
Engaging students & Managing Behavoir
What is the LAER?It is a rubric used by Lousisana's Department of education to asses future teachers prepardness for teaching in the classroom.
Students are engaged and on task. Enforce expectations through a system (rewards etc.). Rewards postitive behavoir & does not let inappropiate behavoir stop lesson. Trasitions are seemless and challeging students are addressed individually.
Assesment
Teachers and students should collab within learning. The assements should be relevant and age/grade appropiate, following the standards given by the state. Should provide clear rubric and expectations/goals for student.
What can it decide?
The LAER may decide placement, and certification for aspring teachers. The similar version for already certified teachers is the LER, and this can decide promotions, tenure, employment and retention.
Enviornment
Teacher creates an enviorment where students can make mistakes and explain their learning from them..Deonstartes respect and intresat in all backgrounds and experiences. Postive teacher student connection.
Thanking&Problem Solving
Aspring teacher teachers 2+ kinds of teaching. Introduces student-led problem solving. Students should be able to draw conclusions and argue a topic through extended writing and oral responses.

Academic Feedback
Challengies activites should engage the students, should instuct different ways of thinking, provide interaction bettwen students. Using resources like tech and programs should allow the student to make choices.
Standards and objective displayed during the lesson and discussed throughout. Expectations for student performance is clear. Content is relevant to the main objective. Students are able to identify their objective.
Oral and written feedback always content focused. Should be given throughout the lesoon through guided practice. Teacher circulates to help student learning. Peer feedback is welcome and student comments are used to modify instruction.
Teacher should show high levels of content knowledge while instucting content.Visuals should include the purpose of the lesson. No irrelvent info.
Teahcer Knowledge Of Studetns
Questioning
Teacher understands the needs and backgrounds/intrests of students and integrates connections and needs into their classroom/lesson. Teaching displays an understanding of the students ablities and needs.. Instuctional groups are varied (small groups/parings). Understanding diffrent student paces.
Studetns have questions relvent to greater learning. Teacher calls on different students to answer and volunteer. Questions always have varying question types.
