Es una figura folklórica del País Vasco y Navarra, un carbonero mitológico que trae regalos a los niños en Navidad. Originalmente un personaje más rudo y misterioso, Olentzero representa la llegada del invierno y la renovación, y hoy en día es un personaje afable que desciende de las montañas para repartir regalos en Nochebuena. Se le describe como un hombre robusto, vestido de forma tradicional, con una boina y una pipa, y a menudo es acompañado por su figura femenina, Mari Domingi.
