You do not need a permit. Before you schedule your road test, you must complete the Impact Texas Adult Drivers program.

Once you get your permit...

• You must complete and log 30 hours of practicing driving on the road
• 10 hours must be at night
• You must obtain seven hours of observation beside the instructor. This is where you watch an instructor (21 years of age or older) drive

• You must obtain seven hours"in car observation and demonstration

• Complete the Impact Texas Teen Drivers program

After, you can schedule an appointment at the DPS to get your license.
