Department of Economics and Management - UniTrento

Let's start!

Department of Economics and Management a brief history

The Department of Economics and Management traces its origins to the from the Faculty of Economics and Business, established in Trento in 1973. The two historic departments of Economics (DECO) and Computer Science and Business Studies (DISA) merged into the new institution. DEM is now actively engaged in a wide range of research areas within economics and management, and its members adopt different perspectives from the theoretical to the empirical, from quantitative to experimental methods, and all the way from case study analysis to computer simulations.

How can this map help you?

This map will help you find your way around and provide you with references during your first few days in the Department!

With 235 seats, the Blue Lecture Hall is the ‘“minor”' twin of the Red Lecture Hall. It is located on the first floor, directly above its... twin.

The DEM “Torretta”

The Torretta is the “internal” connection point between the two buildings — the glass one and the historic one. It often causes some confusion when asking for directions. The few steps and the ramp that link the two sections are meant to overcome a structural mismatch. For this reason, the floors of the two buildings do not correspond exactly.

Residenza S. Margherita

The sports facilities can only be used following a reservation, which must be made by sending an email from your university account to the following mail: receptionsmargherita@unitn.it.

Residenza Santa Margherita

The facility has an outdoor five-a-side football court, a basketball and volleyball court.

Moving to the left, you will reach the historic building with the study rooms and the hallway that leads to the Copy Centre, the Association headquarters and the Conference Room.

Study Rooms

Just passed the Copy Centre, the hallway continues, leading you to the headquarters of several student associations and, immediately thereafter, to the DEM Conference Room.

Associations

A key location on the DEM, you can reach the Copy Centre from the internal hallway or from the door facing the Garden.

SeDaSs

Data Service Laboratory for the Social Sciences

As part of its 2022-24 Strategic Plan, the DEM has activated, with the contribution of the Caritro Foundation and in collaboration with the Department of Sociology and Social Research, with the School of International Studies and with the Doctoral School in Social Sciences, the Data Service Laboratory for Social Sciences (SeDaSs), on the first floor. The Laboratory has the ambition to become a point of reference for quantitative scientific research. The objective of the service is the empirical analysis of topics of public interest, ranging from culture to society and economy, also in the Trentino area, pooling information, even among several research groups.
