Mentorship
In college, I was the chapter president of College Mentors for Kids for three years; this role gave me an entirely new perspective on the student/teacher relationship. It helped me realize that I find mentorship really increases my own success in learning.
Higher Level Education
As noted, I excel in areas where other people are also driven by the same educational aspirations. It has been rewarding to take graduate classes, especially online. While, I do miss being physically together in a classroom, technology has provided easy ways to connect with my peers online, without feeling enitrely disconcteed from them. I value being a constant learner alongside others!
Kickboxing
About two years ago, I joined a kickboxing studio, where I now take classes every day (sometimes twice!). I realized that I learn well in this setting where an instructor is modelling exactly what we are about to do. Addtionally, the exercise has been amazing for helping me focus and stay motivated throughout the day!
Stories of Others
I thrive when I am listening to the stories of others, especially in the form of memoirs. When authors read their own books, listening to them is one of my favorite pastimes. I become a better person when I learn about perspectives that are different than my own.
Social Media
I find creative inspiration from others, so I value learning communities on Pinterest, YouTube, and TikTok. Even beyond education, I use these apps when I need to teach myself how to do something, if I am looking for ideas, or if I need support from other people in my communities.
Writing
Since a young age, I used the computer as a tool for exercising my writing skill; something I still do. I am constantly using technology to write, and I believe that learning to type so efficiently has helped me become a better learner.
