How to Add a Student to Your Class Session from Another Active Class in Securly Classroom

Teachers can now add students to their active class session even if those students are already in another teacher’s active class. This feature helps manage overlapping or special class arrangements seamlessly. Steps to Add a Student:

  1. Open your active class session in Securly Classroom.
  2. Look for students who are currently in another teacher’s class.
  3. They will appear with a note indicating their current class (e.g., “In class: French Class”) and an “Add to class” link below their name.
Click “Add to class” to move the student into your active session. Important Notes:
  • Override Current Class: Adding the student will transfer them from their current class into yours for the duration of your session.
  • Visibility: The student will now be fully visible in your active session and can be monitored just like any other participant in your class.

Watch the vidoe to learn more about the differnet types of passes: Pass Icon: If your admin enables it, you’ll see a floating Pass notification center in the bottom right of Classroom. This shows active passes and new requests. Before Class: Students who already have passes show a badge under their name in the class list with destination and origin info (hover to see details). During Class: When a student requests a pass, a popup appears with their name and destination. You can approve, cancel, or ignore (still visible later in the Pass center). Managing Passes: Each pass shows a status (On the way, Arrived, Returning). If the time limit is exceeded, it turns yellow or may be auto-ended by the system.

Locking Student Screens

Screen view:

  • Locks student devices to prevent distractions.
  • Can be applied to the entire class, a group, or an individual student.
  • Allows you to display a custom message (e.g., “Eyes up, please”) and optionally set a duration.
  • Unlocking is done with the release button, which also releases Site Lock if active.
Device View
  • Provides a detailed, enlarged view of a single student’s screen.
  • Teacher tools (Screen Lock, Site Lock, Push URL) can be applied to this student only.
  • Options on the right-hand side: chat, history, and tab management (visit, close, block).
  • Bottom options: Share Screen, Save Screen, Print, and Fullscreen.
  • Blocking a website from here applies it to both the student and the class if needed.
  • Saving or printing the screen creates a timestamped record of activity.

This video explains how to use web links in Securly Classroom, which work like bookmarks for websites or resources you want students to access. Teachers can create, organize, and share web links, then use them during class with tools like Push URL or Site Lock. Web links can be grouped into collections for faster access to multiple sites, and dependencies or predefined templates can be added to ensure pages with embedded content work properly. Teachers can edit, delete, or clone their own web links, and filter to view only the ones they’ve created, making setup easier before class begins.
