- What do you think about the foundation of the State of Israel in 1948?
- It was a turning point in history. But one people’s dream became another people’s nightmare.

- You mean the State of Palestine was never created and the territory was split in two?

What is the diaspora?The diaspora is when people have to live far away from their original land. For the Jews, this was a very important part of their history.
Spy carefully
Slavery in Egypt
The Bible says that the Jews went to Egypt during a famine. After some time, they became slaves of the pharaohs and had to work very hard.
Moses and freedom
Moses helped the Jews leave Egypt. This is called the Exodus. They crossed the Sinai desert to go back to the Promised Land (Canaan).

1942: Avanzata dell’Asse in Africa e Russia. 1943: Invasione dell’Italia, caduta di Mussolini, Resistenza contro i nazifascisti. 1944: Sbarco in Normandia (D-Day) → liberazione dell’Europa occidentale.

Terra Promessa: secondo la Bibbia, Dio, dopo la fuga dall'Egitto, donò al popolo ebraico la Terra Promessa che corrisponde a tutta la Palestina, all'attuale Israele e a parti della Siria, del Libano, dell'Iraq, della Giordania e dell'Egitto;
Diaspora: gli ebrei, secondo la Bibbia e secondo fatti storici e archeologici, furono costretti a lasciare la Palestina e a vivere dispersi nel mondo per secoli;
Legame storico e religioso: gli ebrei, così come i cristiani e i musulmani, mantennero con la Palestina un forte rapporto;

Riddle
I am essential for locating Gaza, although I changed many times during the years. What am I?
