Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Fraudulent Foreign Job Offers Targeting Young South African Women Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my deep concern and distress regarding a fraudulent job offer that recently targeted my daughter, a 22-year-old university graduate from Johannesburg. She was contacted via social media by individuals claiming to represent a recruitment agency offering high-paying hospitality jobs in Tarstan. The offer appeared legitimate, with professional-looking documents and promises of accommodation, travel, and visa support. Unfortunately, after transferring a significant amount of money for supposed “processing fees,” she discovered that the agency was non-existent, and the contact numbers were disconnected. She is now emotionally devastated, financially strained, and fearful of further exploitation.
This incident is not isolated. I have since learned that many young South African women are being lured by similar scams, often under the guise of international employment opportunities. These fraudulent schemes not only rob our children of their savings and dignity but also expose them to potential human trafficking and abuse. I respectfully urge your department to take immediate and visible action to: Launch a nationwide awareness campaign warning citizens about these scams. Collaborate with law enforcement and international agencies to track and prosecute the perpetrators. Establish a dedicated hotline and support service for victims and families. Work with social media platforms to flag and remove suspicious recruitment accounts. As a mother, I am pleading for your leadership and swift intervention to protect our youth from further harm. I am available to provide any information that may assist your investigation and would appreciate a response outlining the steps your department intends to take.
