The Amazing Race is a reality television game show in which teams race around the world in competition with other teams.

Leg 1

The Amazing Race - Leg 1: Preparation and Practice

On this Leg of the Race, you will apply the five themes of geography to a city or town you know and compare it to a different location of your choice. These are the tasks you will complete on this Leg of the Race. For each task, you will practice your racing skills by researching a city or town that you are most familiar with and a second city or town of your choice outside the United States of America.

  • Locate the absolute location for both places.
  • Describe the relative location of both places.
  • Describe both locations in terms of place.
  • Identify the region for each location.
  • Give four examples of movement in both locations.
  • Give four examples of human-environment interaction in both locations.

Choose Your Two Cities

You will choose two cities or towns for this Leg of the Race. It will be simpler if you choose a city or town you know well and one that you are curious to learn more about, that is outside the United States of America.
