Partnership Report
As Strategic Director of Coastal Partners, I am delighted to introduce our People Strategy, which is being delivered as part of our Corporate Strategy. This will explain how we will support, develop, and empower our greatest asset - our people.
I also want to personally acknowledge how far this organisation has come over the years. It has been a privilege to witness our journey, seeing Coastal Partners grow from strength to strength. The progress we have made is such a testament to the hard work of every member of our team. This People Strategy sets out a clear vision for fostering a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic working environment where everyone can thrive and contribute to delivering outstanding services for the communities we serve.
It also goes beyond policies and processes. It is about creating a culture where every individual feels valued, heard, and equipped to reach their full potential. Whilst we may not have all the answers to the challenges ahead, and we are confident that this People Strategy will equip us to address these challenges with appropriate, innovative, and forward-thinking solutions for the benefit of our local communities.

Our People Strategy is anchored by five core pillars. Our culture is focused on attracting and retaining talented staff while fostering an environment that encourages personal and professional growth. We are committed to developing our team through a range of initiatives, including student placements, work experience programmes, apprenticeships, and opportunities for casual employment. By prioritising workforce planning and creating clear career pathways, we ensure that our employees have access to training, development, and professional qualifications, all supported by regular performance and development reviews (PDR) and one-to-one meetings. We offer a comprehensive programme of events and conferences, enabling staff to represent our sector at both local and national levels. Our core behaviours and values, ensure that everyone feels supported and empowered to succeed.

Our service is built on a foundation of inclusion, engagement and pride, supported by strong leadership and dedicated wellbeing groups. We foster a culture of empowerment and trust through our champions programme, regular lunch and learn sessions, and recognition initiatives. Inspirational support and mentoring are integral to our approach, ensuring that everyone feels valued and equipped to thrive. We prioritise health, safety, and wellbeing, with dedicated resources for Health & Safety, access to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), and robust support for lone working. Our comprehensive induction process also sets the tone for a positive experience from day one, while our leaders and development programme, including Insights for Future, ensures ongoing growth and readiness for upcoming challenges.
