Influence on music
Pentatonix's main influence on music comes from their early beginnings and rise to fame. By becoming famous, they have proved that music doesn't always need to be played with instruments to be powerful. They haven't only shown that their creativity and teamwork can create beautiful music, but they have also done it while converging different types of music, such as modern pop, and mixing it with traditional a cappella. This gives them their own style, which was previously unknown to the world and will likely remain for a long time.
About Pentatonix
Pentatonix is a five-member a cappella group that started in 2011 and gained widespread recognition after winning the third season of NBC’s The Sing-Off. They are famous for their cover songs, holiday music, and original tracks. Pentatonix has reached a level of commercial success that is rare for a cappella groups, helping the genre gain more attention. The group began at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas, where Kirstie Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, and Scott Hoying were friends. As a trio, they got noticed locally and on YouTube after arranging Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” for a radio contest. The group met in person for the first time just one day before their audition. After winning The Sing-Off, Pentatonix released several successful albums. They are also very popular on YouTube, where their channel is one of the most-subscribed. Pentatonix has won three Grammy Awards, including two for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella, and one for Best Country Duo or Group Performance for their version of “Jolene” with Dolly Parton.
