Publishing vs. sharing: what are my rights?

If my article is published in a journal, can I distribute it online?

Yes! The Digital Republic Act of 7 October 2016 (Article 30) allows authors of scientific articles to deposit them in an open archive.

Which versions to distribute?

If I publish my thesis online, can I also publish it with a publisher?

Yes! Publishing a thesis online does not prevent it from being published by a commercial publisher. It is never the version published online that is published, but a revised version.

Info

Beware of predatory journals and publishers that offer rapid publication but with lower editorial quality and no guarantee of peer review.

Place in an open archive

The archive may be disciplinary, institutional or national. Please do not hesitate to ask the library for advice on choosing the most appropriate repository!

It is possible to submit academic work, whether it has already been published or not.
