The INSPIRE 2025 Mobility Program at STIE Mahardhika, Surabaya was a five-day academic initiative designed to strengthen students’ competence in quantitative research methods through interactive workshops combining theory and practice. The program also provided opportunities for students to engage with the local community, gaining valuable insights into Indonesia’s culture, language, and education system, while exploring aspects of tourism entrepreneurship. A total of 14 students from the School of Distance Education, USM participated in this program.

Through the International Community Service Program, SDE has collaborated with Universitas Terbuka (UT), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), and the Karo Regency Government on the Capacity Building Training for Human Resources in the Development of Tourism Destination at Berastagi Fruit Market, Karo Regency. What makes this project unique is that students are not mere observers — they are active changemakers, working hand in hand with local communities, from flower and fruit traders to farmer groups and horse tourism providers.

SDE has been actively collaborating with primary and secondary schools across Penang to bring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning to life in a way that’s fun, inspiring, and meaningful for students.Together with the schools, we introduced hands-on experiments that allowed students to experience the “wow” factor of STEM right in their classrooms. We also organized an innovation competition at the school level, where young minds were encouraged to think creatively and develop solutions to real-life problems.

This module, part of a community project in collaboration with the Seberang Perai Tengah District Office and Sekolah Sinar Harapan, equips teachers, parents, education professionals, and university students with practical skills in managing students with special needs (Murid Berkeperluan Khas). Through Transfer of Knowledge (ToK) and Training of Trainers (ToT) approaches, participants gain hands-on strategies in behavior management, classroom techniques, and inclusive education.

This role involves close collaboration with national cybersecurity authorities to evaluate and recommend cryptographic algorithms that meet stringent security standards and align with the National Cryptography Policy (NCP).

Capacity-building initiatives for human resources involved in tourism development at the Berastagi Fruit Market in Karo Regency were coordinated in collaboration with Universitas Terbuka (UT), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), and the Karo Regency Government.

Igniting Global Minds: Cross-Cultural Exchange Elevates Research and Engagement at UNNES.

he academic mobility program between Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) was a highly successful initiative designed to strengthen academic collaboration and cross-cultural understanding through five interconnected components. These activities included a guest lecture on digitalization and economic growth, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), a campus tour providing an overview of UNNES facilities and student life, and a valuable series of historical and cultural explorations visiting landmarks like Lawang Sewu and Candi Gedung Songo, culminating in a hands-on Shibori dyeing workshop

Transforming Education Through Urban Farming

This project integrates sustainable urban farming into education, empowering students, especially from B40 families, with practical skills that go beyond textbooks. Through hydroponics and urban gardening, students learn about science, technology, and sustainability while actively engaging in teamwork and problem solving. SIM Guidelines for pearl

The Self-Instructional Materials (SIM) Guidelines for PEARL, PPPJJ governs the design, development, evaluation, and administration of all course portals in SDE's LMS - PEARL. They ensure alignment with COPPA: ODL, instructional design principles, and USM’s intellectual property policies. Transforming Communities, Empowering Yourself: Berastagi Capacity Building Program

Capacity-building initiatives for human resources involved in tourism development at the Berastagi Fruit Market in Karo Regency were coordinated in collaboration with Universitas Terbuka (UT), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), and the Karo Regency Government.

These are some of the programs that have been successfully conducted and will continue to strengthen collaboration with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP): 1) S.E.A. Figure Forum (2022), Osman Ayob, PPPJJ USM Alumni This program also involved several other agencies such as Angkatan Sasterawan Nasional Kedah (ASASI) and the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG) Penang Campus. 2) Creative Writing Talk and Workshop Conducted at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Labu Besar and Sekolah Menengah Convent Kulim, Kedah. 3) Writing Workshop for School Teachers in the Baling District Provided guidance to produce a short story anthology. 4) Briefing on Scholarly Book Publication program involving SDE lecturers aimed at producing academic books. 5) Mentorship for Young Writers In collaboration with the Perlis State Education Department (JPN Perlis). 6) DBP Creative Writing Workshop 2024 Conducted by editors of Dewan Sastera and literary books for university lecturers.
