The beginning of the new school year simultaneously marks the start of the ‘Year of Democracy’ in 10 schools in the participating countries. Together with us, the project partners, as coaches, the schools will go through the Standard Process for Democratic Empowerment. We will accompany them in assessing their current state of democracy and improving it over the next ten months – as a joint effort by the school management, the teaching and administrative staff, the pupils and parents.
Pilot Project Starts with 10 Schools in September
The first phase of our coACTION Project to strengthen democracy in primary schools was completed with the second Transnational Project Meeting in Pedome, Portugal, at the end of June 2025. The most important products – the coACTION Sensor (questionnaires to determine the status quo), the Standard Process for Democratic Empowerment, and the coACTION Treasury (repository for democratic activities) – have been completed and evaluated. They are now awaiting testing in the pilot project.

Der Beginn des neuen Schuljahres Iäutet in 10 Schulen in den teilnehmenden Ländern gleich- zeitig den Start des „Jahrs der Demokratie“ ein. Η έναρξη του νέου σχολικού έτους σηματοδοτεί ταυτόχρονα την έναρξη του «Έτους της Δημοκρατίας» σε 10 σχολεία των συμμετεχόντων χωρών. Μαζί με εμάς, τους εταίρους του έργου, ως συμβούλους, τα σχολεία θα ακολουθήσουν την Τυποποιημένη Διαδικασία για τη Δημοκρατική Ενδυνάμωση. Η Πιλοτική Εφαρμογή Ξεκινά με 10 Σχολεία τον Σεπτέμβριο

Democratic Culture and Quality Management
In addition to the products mentioned above, further support measures for schools have been developed. The Guide to Democratic Empowerment takes participants on a journey through the ‘Year of Democracy‘ in six modules; background information on democratic culture, the involvement of the entire school community in everyday school life and quality management round off the range of topics. To document the individual steps of the process, the coACTION Diary not only allows participants to track the progress of the project, but also to record their own experiences and successes.
Δημοκρατική Κουλτούρα και Διαχείριση Ποιότητας
Εκτός από τα αποτελέσματα που αναφέρονται παραπάνω, έχουν αναπτυχθεί περαιτέρω μέτρα υποστήριξης για τα σχολεία. Ο Οδηγός για τη Δημοκρατική Ενδυνάμωση οδηγεί τους/τις συμμετέχοντες/ουσες σε ένα ταξίδι μέσα από το «Έτος της Δημοκρατίας» σε έξι ενότητες. Πληροφορίες για το ιστορικό της δημοκρατικής κουλτούρας, τη συμμετοχή ολόκληρης της σχολικής κοινότητας στην καθημερινή σχολική ζωή και τη διαχείριση της ποιότητας συμπληρώνουν το φάσμα των θεμάτων. Για να τεκμηριωθούν τα επιμέρους στάδια της διαδικασίας, το Ημερολόγιο coACTION επιτρέπει στους/στις συμμετέχοντες/ουσες, όχι μόνο να παρακολουθούν την πρόοδο του έργου, αλλά και να καταγράφουν τις δικές τους εμπειρίες και επιτυχίες.
Cultura democrática y gestión de la calidad
Además de los productos mencionados anteriormente, se han desarrollado nuevas medidas de apoyo para las escuelas. La Guía para el Empoderamiento Democrático acompaña a las y los participantes en un recorrido por el “Año de la Democracia” a través de seis módulos. La información de contexto sobre la cultura democrática, la implicación de toda la comunidad educativa en la vida escolar cotidiana y la gestión de la calidad completan la oferta de contenidos. Para documentar cada uno de los pasos del proceso, el Diario coACTION no solo permite seguir el progreso del proyecto, sino también recoger experiencias y logros propios.

Für die praktische Erprobung der im Projekt entwickelten Werkzeuge steht unser portugiesischer Partner, die Agrupamento de Escolas Terras do Ave (AETA), ein Cluster von 10 Bildungseinheiten im Norden Portugals mit rund 1.500 Schülern von der Vorschule über die Primarstufe bis hin zu weiterführenden Schulen. Knapp 70 Lehrkräfte arbeiten alleine an den Grundschulen. AETA fördert eine integrative Bildung und legt großen Wert auf die soziale und persönliche Weiterentwicklung der Kinder und Jugendlichen.
Blickpunkt Identität bringt als zweiter österreichischer Partner langjährige Erfahrung im Bereich der Aus- und Weiterbildung von Jugendlichen und Erwachsenen ein. Im Rahmen ihrer internationalen Projekttätigkeit entwickelt die Institution laufend didaktisches Know-how in den Bereichen Verhinderung von vorzeitigem Schulabbruch, Demokratiebildung, positive Psychologie, Resilienz und Klimaschutz.
Jaitek ist unser Spezialist für die technische Umsetzung der erarbeiteten Angebote. Das spanische Institut versteht Technologie als einen Weg, den neuen Anforderungen unserer Zeit zu begegnen, als Werkzeug des Wandels, das dazu dient, den Zugang zu Ausbildung besser und einfacher zu gestalten.

The mission of PARAGON-eduTech, the Greek project partner, is to promote research and innovation for inclusive learning with understanding, trust and empathy. PARAGON also focusses on the numerous challenges posed by technological innovations in the field of education.
The project is the responsibility of PBOe, the Private Educational Organisations Austria. As an umbrella organisation of 26 independent schools, PBOe advocates a democratic, free and diverse education system that gives every child access to the school that meets their needs - regardless of their family‘s financial situation.
Our Portuguese partner, Agrupamento de Escolas Terras do Ave (AETA), a cluster of 10 educational units in the north of Portugal with around 1,500 pupils from pre-shttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61572060704631chool to primary and secondary school, is responsible for the practical testing of the tools developed in the project. Almost 70 teachers work at the primary levels alone. AETA promotes inclusive education and attaches great importance to the social and personal development of the children and young people.

Blickpunkt Identität is the second Austrian partner with many years of experience in the field of training and further education for young people and adults. Seminars, coun- selling and coaching are offered as part of the international project activities.
Jaitek is our specialist for the technical implementation of the developed programmes. The Spanish institute sees technology as a way of meeting the new demands of our time, as a tool for change that serves to make access to education better and easier.
Demokratische Kultur und Qualitätsmanagement
Neben den oben erwähnten Produkten wurden noch weitere Unterstützungsmaßnahmen für die Schulen erarbeitet. Der Leitfaden zu mehr Demokratie an der Schule nimmt die Teilnehmenden in sechs Modulen mit auf eine Reise durch das Jahr der Demokratie; Hindergrundinformationen zu demokratischer Kultur, zur Einbindung der gesamten Schulgemeinschaft in das tägliche Schulleben und zum Qualitätsmanagement runden die Palette an Themen ab. Zur Dokumentation der einzelnen Prozess-Schritte kann im coACTION Tagebuch nicht nur der Fortschritt des Projektes verfolgt, sondern es können auch eigene Erfahrungen und Erfolge festgehalten werden.

Para além dos produtos mencionados, foram também desenvolvidas outras medidas de apoio às escolas. O Guia para o Empoderamento Democrático conduz os participantes numa viagem pelo "Ano da Democracia" em seis módulos; informações de base sobre a cultura democrática, a participação de toda a comunidade escolar na vida quotidiana da escola e a gestão da qualidade completam o leque de temas. Para documentar as várias etapas do processo, o coACTION Diary permite não apenas acompanhar o progresso do projeto, mas também registar experiências e sucessos individuais.

Η Πιλοτική Εφαρμογή Ξεκινά με 10 Σχολεία τον Σεπτέμβριο
Η πρώτη φάση του έργου coACTION, για την ενίσχυση της δημοκρατίας στα δημοτικά σχολεία, ολοκληρώθηκε με τη δεύτερη διακρατική συνάντηση των εταίρων, στο Pedome της Πορτογαλίας, στα τέλη Ιουνίου 2025. Τα πιο σημαντικά αποτελέσματα – ο αισθητήρας coACTION (ερωτηματολόγια για τον προσδιορισμό της υφιστάμενης κατάστασης), η τυποποιημένη διαδικασία για την ενδυνάμωση της δημοκρατίας και το αρχείο coACTION (αποθήκη δημοκρατικών δραστηριοτήτων) – έχουν ολοκληρωθεί και αξιολογηθεί. Τώρα αναμένεται η δοκιμή τους στο πλαίσιο της πιλοτικής εφαρμογής.

O início do novo ano letivo marca simultaneamente o arranque do "Ano da Democracia" em 10 escolas dos países participantes. Juntamente connosco, os parceiros do projeto, na qualidade de orientadores, as escolas irão percorrer o Processo-Padrão para o Empoderamento Democrático. Acompanhá-las-emos na avaliação do seu estado atual de democracia e na sua melhoria ao longo dos próximos dez meses – num esforço conjunto da direção, dos docentes e assistentes, dos alunos e dos pais.
Projeto-Piloto Começa em 10 Escolas em Setembro
A primeira fase do nosso Projeto coACTION, destinado a reforçar a democracia nas escolas do ensino básico, foi concluída com a segunda Reunião Transnacional do Projeto em Pedome, Portugal, no final de junho de 2025. Os produtos mais importantes – o coACTION Sensor (questionários para determinar o estado atual), o Processo-Padrão para o Empoderamento Democrático e o coACTION Treasury (repositório de atividades democráticas) – foram finalizados e avaliados. Estão agora prontos para ser testados no projeto-piloto.

Democratic Culture and Quality Management
In addition to the products mentioned above, further support measures for schools have been developed. The Guide to Democratic Empowerment takes participants on a journey through the ‘Year of Democracy‘ in six modules; background information on democratic culture, the involvement of the entire school community in everyday school life and quality management round off the range of topics. To document the individual steps of the process, the coACTION Diary not only allows participants to track the progress of the project, but also to record their own experiences and successes.
Δημοκρατική Κουλτούρα και Διαχείριση Ποιότητας
Εκτός από τα αποτελέσματα που αναφέρονται παραπάνω, έχουν αναπτυχθεί περαιτέρω μέτρα υποστήριξης για τα σχολεία. Ο Οδηγός για τη Δημοκρατική Ενδυνάμωση οδηγεί τους/τις συμμετέχοντες/ουσες σε ένα ταξίδι μέσα από το «Έτος της Δημοκρατίας» σε έξι ενότητες. Πληροφορίες για το ιστορικό της δημοκρατικής κουλτούρας, τη συμμετοχή ολόκληρης της σχολικής κοινότητας στην καθημερινή σχολική ζωή και τη διαχείριση της ποιότητας συμπληρώνουν το φάσμα των θεμάτων. Για να τεκμηριωθούν τα επιμέρους στάδια της διαδικασίας, το Ημερολόγιο coACTION επιτρέπει στους/στις συμμετέχοντες/ουσες, όχι μόνο να παρακολουθούν την πρόοδο του έργου, αλλά και να καταγράφουν τις δικές τους εμπειρίες και επιτυχίες.
Cultura democrática y gestión de la calidad
Además de los productos mencionados anteriormente, se han desarrollado nuevas medidas de apoyo para las escuelas. La Guía para el Empoderamiento Democrático acompaña a las y los participantes en un recorrido por el “Año de la Democracia” a través de seis módulos. La información de contexto sobre la cultura democrática, la implicación de toda la comunidad educativa en la vida escolar cotidiana y la gestión de la calidad completan la oferta de contenidos. Para documentar cada uno de los pasos del proceso, el Diario coACTION no solo permite seguir el progreso del proyecto, sino también recoger experiencias y logros propios.

Für die praktische Erprobung der im Projekt entwickelten Werkzeuge steht unser portugiesischer Partner, die Agrupamento de Escolas Terras do Ave (AETA), ein Cluster von 10 Bildungseinheiten im Norden Portugals mit rund 1.500 Schülern von der Vorschule über die Primarstufe bis hin zu weiterführenden Schulen. Knapp 70 Lehrkräfte arbeiten alleine an den Grundschulen. AETA fördert eine integrative Bildung und legt großen Wert auf die soziale und persönliche Weiterentwicklung der Kinder und Jugendlichen.
Blickpunkt Identität bringt als zweiter österreichischer Partner langjährige Erfahrung im Bereich der Aus- und Weiterbildung von Jugendlichen und Erwachsenen ein. Im Rahmen ihrer internationalen Projekttätigkeit entwickelt die Institution laufend didaktisches Know-how in den Bereichen Verhinderung von vorzeitigem Schulabbruch, Demokratiebildung, positive Psychologie, Resilienz und Klimaschutz.
Jaitek ist unser Spezialist für die technische Umsetzung der erarbeiteten Angebote. Das spanische Institut versteht Technologie als einen Weg, den neuen Anforderungen unserer Zeit zu begegnen, als Werkzeug des Wandels, das dazu dient, den Zugang zu Ausbildung besser und einfacher zu gestalten.

The mission of PARAGON-eduTech, the Greek project partner, is to promote research and innovation for inclusive learning with understanding, trust and empathy. PARAGON also focusses on the numerous challenges posed by technological innovations in the field of education.
The project is the responsibility of PBOe, the Private Educational Organisations Austria. Our Portuguese partner, Agrupamento de Escolas Terras do Ave (AETA), a cluster of 10 educational units in the north of Portugal with around 1,500 pupils from pre-shttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61572060704631chool to primary and secondary school, is responsible for the practical testing of the tools developed in the project. Almost 70 teachers work at the primary levels alone. AETA promotes inclusive education and attaches great importance to the social and personal development of the children and young people.

Blickpunkt Identität is the second Austrian partner with many years of experience in the field of training and further education for young people and adults. Seminars, coun- selling and coaching are offered as part of the international project activities.
Jaitek is our specialist for the technical implementation of the developed programmes. The Spanish institute sees technology as a way of meeting the new demands of our time, as a tool for change that serves to make access to education better and easier.
Demokratische Kultur und Qualitätsmanagement
Neben den oben erwähnten Produkten wurden noch weitere Unterstützungsmaßnahmen für die Schulen erarbeitet. Der Leitfaden zu mehr Demokratie an der Schule nimmt die Teilnehmenden in sechs Modulen mit auf eine Reise durch das Jahr der Demokratie; Hindergrundinformationen zu demokratischer Kultur, zur Einbindung der gesamten Schulgemeinschaft in das tägliche Schulleben und zum Qualitätsmanagement runden die Palette an Themen ab. Zur Dokumentation der einzelnen Prozess-Schritte kann im coACTION Tagebuch nicht nur der Fortschritt des Projektes verfolgt, sondern es können auch eigene Erfahrungen und Erfolge festgehalten werden.

Para além dos produtos mencionados, foram também desenvolvidas outras medidas de apoio às escolas. O Guia para o Empoderamento Democrático conduz os participantes numa viagem pelo "Ano da Democracia" em seis módulos; informações de base sobre a cultura democrática, a participação de toda a comunidade escolar na vida quotidiana da escola e a gestão da qualidade completam o leque de temas. Para documentar as várias etapas do processo, o coACTION Diary permite não apenas acompanhar o progresso do projeto, mas também registar experiências e sucessos individuais.

El proyecto es responsabilidad de PBOe, las Organizaciones Educativas Privadas de Austria.
