Article 9B: Academically or Intellecutally Gifted Students: Focuses on the identification and support of academically or intellectually gifted students in public schools. It mandates that all public schools serving students from K to grade 12 must identify and serve these gifted students, ensuring they receive differentiated educational services beyond the regular curriculum. The legistlatioin also outlines procedures for school boards to develop plans for gifted education and accountability for providing appropriate support to these students.
Standard 1-Identification!
Identification
-Nominations can be made by anyone; the two area are math and reading. Nominations for Intellecutal needs can also be made. -Data collection, Observations, and work performance. -The AIG Committee will meet to discuss data. -Aptitude testing can be administered. -Qualifying test scores ae roughly 10% of scale scores.

This assessment si given to nominated students who show a need based on teh data collected. This assessment is only provided during testing windows.

Achievement: EOG/EOC
BOY/EOG/EOC scores for Reading and Math may be used as nomination and identification data.

Observations and work samples may also be used as nomination and identification data.
About the CogAT
CogAT evaluates the cognitive development of students from grades K-12. The test measures.. -verbal reasoning (Reading) -quantitative reasoning (Math), and -Non-verbal reasoning (spatial and figural content)
