20mo Aniversario
The Network's 20th anniversary is celebrated thanks to a planning committee and Network's founders participation.
REDIBAS Foundation
On 29th October 2005, representatives of 18 organizations from 10 Ibero-American countries, alongside representatives from the Organization of Ibero-American States and IDB-Youth, founded REDIBAS, the Ibero-American Service-Learning Network. At this point, they agreed on the nature of the network they wanted, including the aspects they did not want. One of those characteristics was that it would be a bilingual Spanish-English network with an Executive Secretariat run by CLAYSS and NYLC.
Governance Committee
A working group was created to address network governance, appointed by the Assembly and comprising a member of the Spanish Network, another from the Chilean Network, one of the founding members, and the Executive Secretariat. This group worked in Spanish using different technological resources, which marked a milestone in the development of this bilingual network.
REDIBAS, CLAYSS and UNESCO
REDIBAS participated in the joint publication by CLAYSS and UNESCO, Solidarity as the Future of Education, contributing expert commentary and learning-service initiatives across the region
Outreach collaboration
RIDAS dedicates a special issue to service-learning networks, including an article written by various national Ibero-American networks that comprise REDIBAS.

Creation of the Colombian Service-Learning Network and the Ecuadorian Service-Learning Networks

REDIBAS during the pandemic
In pandemic times, CLAYSS mapped out service-learning initiatives during the COVID lockdown, with REDIBAS sharing members' experiences and mapping projects in each country. The Network helped support members and national service-learning networks. Collaboration with Uniservitate, a global network for solidarity service-learning in Catholic higher education institutions, begins.
Diploma
CLAYSS and the Organization of Ibero-American States launch an online course in Service-Learning, delivered jointly by both institutions and the Ibero-American Service-Learning Network.
Rede Brasileira de Aprendizagem Solidaria, ApSU y ORSIES
Creation of the Rede Brasileira de Aprendizagem Solidaria, Brazil, and ORSIES (Observatory of Social Responsibility and Higher Education Institutions, Portugal). The Spanish University Service-Learning Association is established.
International outreach
Colleagues from South Africa are invited to participate as observers in the Network’s meeting in August. This marks the beginning of such invitations, which serve as inspiration and training to establish local networks, where none existed before, and as a forum for regional networks to exchange ideas. In future years, colleagues from Central and Eastern Europe, Asia, and other regions joined in.
Knowledge production
The network strengthens its academic and knowledge production goals through its participation in academic forums such as journals and conferences, while negotiation the publication of its own academic journal begins. The Universidad Señor de Sipán (Chiclayo, Peru) publishes a collaborative monograph dedicated to service-learning, edited by OEI and CLAYSS, with articles by different REDIBAS members (‘Tzhoecoen’ Journal).
