Once upon a time, there was a boy called Yan who loved finding things for pleasure. He searched for objects that glittered and sparkled and he named these items his treasure. Then one day, he had such a surprise, a shiny little star appeared before his eyes! “This is far too precious for me to keep, I must find the owner before I sleep.” “Whose can it be?”

So, Yan set off to find the owner with a hop. With a hop and a bop then he came to a stop. First, he asked his friend, “No, no, it is not my star.” Next, he asked a dinner lady, “No, no, it is not my star.” Finally, he asked a teacher, “No, no, it is not my star.” He searched, and he searched, and he searched alone. “Well, if no-one has lost it, I will keep it as my own.” “Whose can it be?”

So, Yan kept the star and he put it in a jar. He took it everywhere he went but it was not content. It got sadder and sadder until it became so glum. Then one night in the sky a message did come. ‘LOST, ONE SMALL STAR’ out from the sky did peep and Yan now realised it wasn’t his to keep. He knew deep inside just what he had to do. Yan had a plan, “I’ll fix it while I can.” “Whose can it be?”

First, he tried to zoom Little Star up high. Next, he tried to teach Little Star how to fly. Finally, he got some lights and sent a message to the sky. With a fizz, whizz and a whirl, the stars twisted and twirled. A spiral staircase lifted Little Star back home and Yan felt so sad and so alone. But to Yan’s surprise and delight, Little Star with all its might . . . Visits him each evening to wish him . . . goodnight! “Goodnight Little Star!”
