The NCS VIP Commitment for Success is intended to outline the agreements and expectations for students in our virtual learning environment. Students and parents are expected to review this at the beginning of their enrollment with VIP and again at the beginning of any subsequent year.

Commitment for Success Module
Students will complete learning modules through Edgenuity with the support of certified teachers and facilitators.
Newton County Schools has established the Virtual Instructional Program (VIP) for students to learn in a self-paced virtual environment. Once accepted, VIP students can progress from grade to grade without physically attending a school facility.
Students who apply for the Fall Semester are committing for the entire year.
Students will have asynchronous access to Concept Coaching also in Edgenuity.
Students must re-apply each Spring to continue in the Fall.
Participation in the program is 100% self-paced.
Students will abide by all guidelines and expectations as set forth in the NCS Code of Conduct (linked below).

Student success in an online setting is dependent upon many factors.
At VIP, Students must commit to the following:
- Attendance and participation in the NCS Virtual Instructional Program for the entire 25-26 school year. (Aug 4, 2025-May 22, 2026).

Maintain adequate academic progress.
At the heart of the VIP Framework lies instruction.
- If the student fails more than one class, they will be placed on academic probation. Failure to maintain a grade point average of 70 or above during two consecutive 4.5 week grading periods, may result in program removal.
- Make timely progress in courses and meet required deadlines.
- Maintain communication with teachers and facilitators to discuss progress and learning goals.
- Follow all course requirements, including notetaking, studying and participating in state and local standardized testing.
- Follow both VIP and your zoned home school communication feeds for updates of school activities.

Adhere to all academic integrity requirements outlined in the NCS Student Code of Conduct. You will receive detailed information about our Behavior Matrix from your teachers and facilitators.
Attend the Open House Orientation (virtual) with VIP staff. A recording is provided in the Parent Engagment Section.

In a Self-Paced Online Environment
At VIP, Parents must commit to the following:- Agree to keep your student enrolled in the Virtual Instructional Program for the entire 25-26 school year. (August 4, 2025- May 22, 2026).

- Initiate communication with, ask questions of, and follow up with your student's assigned facilitator regularly and in a timely manner.
- Supervise and monitor your student to make sure they are making adequate progress.
- Follow your student's zoned school communication feeds for updates of class/program activities.
- Ensure your student has reliable access to the Internet.

Attending the beginning of the year orientation is a vital part of our VIP requirements for both students and parents. Please review the video if you were not in attendance on August 4, 2025.

Commitment for Success Module
Middle and high school students will receive progress reports every 4.5 weeks, while elementary students receive them every 9 weeks.
Instructional Focus and Support
What is considered adequate progress?
If a student does not meet progress standards by the end of a 9-week period, they will be placed on academic probation for the following 9-week grading period.
Adequate academic progress requires students to achieve a grade of 70% or higher for students in grades 4-12, either during each 4.5-week grading period or as a rolling cumulative total.
Students who fail to pass more than two courses by the semester break may be considered for return to their zoned home school for the Spring Semester.
