SETTING THE CONTEXT

Europe is facing an unprecedented ageing population, with a growing proportion of adults over 55 and challenges associated with the sustainability of social systems and inclusion in the labour market.

The share of workers aged between 55 and 64 in the European Union's labour force reached 59.1% in 2019, an increase of more than 20% compared to twenty years earlier.

This reality calls for innovative responses that:

  • value the experience of older people
  • combat ageism
  • promote lifelong learning

This course is a response to this new reality! Using adapted methodologies, we will equip mentors and trainers with tools and skills to better support adults 55+ in the current market professional reintegration and senior entrepreneurship

Throughout this course, participants will acquire the key skills to act as effective mentors to adults over 55, supporting them in their professional transition and employability. Each module combines theory and practice, using participatory dynamics and materials tailored to this audience, and addresses: • The principles of active ageing and strategies to combat ageism; • Andragogy and geragogy techniques that value existing experience and skills; • Mentoring methods tailored to the physical, cognitive and emotional needs of mentees; • Use of digital tools to enhance employability and foster senior entrepreneurship; • Guidance on creating business models with the Business Model Canvas, preparing both for traditional employment and entrepreneurial initiatives. At the end of the course, you will be prepared to create inclusive environments, promote the autonomy of mentees and take on a role as catalysts for positive change in the community, while enriching your own professional journey.
