Different places experience different kinds of (1) _________ throughout the year. Some areas are known for being very (2) __________ and warm, while others are often (3) _________ or (4) _________ . In some parts of the world, winters are extremely cold, with (5) __________ temperatures and heavy (6) _________ . For example, northern countries sometimes face strong (7) __________ that cover everything in thick snow. Other places have (8) _________ climates, which means the air is often wet and warm. This kind of weather can feel uncomfortable because it makes people sweat more. Sometimes, the sky is (9) __________, and it’s hard to see far because of thick (10) __________ close to the ground. In coastal areas, a gentle (11) __________ can cool down a hot day, while at other times strong (12) ___________ or even dangerous (13) __________ winds can cause damage. During storms, you might see bright (14) _________ in the sky and hear loud (15) __________. Sometimes, hail, which are small balls of (16) __________, falls from the clouds and damages cars or plants. Climate change is making weather more unpredictable. Some areas suffer from extreme conditions like (17) __________, where there is little rain, or (18) ___________, where heavy rain causes water to cover land. Scientists warn that protecting our environment can help reduce the risk of these (19) __________ . Always check the weather forecast before planning outdoor activities to be prepared for any sudden changes.

The environment is facing many serious problems today. Pollution caused by factories and cars damages the air, water, and soil. Some animals become (1)__________ because their homes are destroyed or polluted. It is important to (2)__________ nature by reducing waste and recycling. Many cities are full of (3)__________ and litter. People should never (4) __________ in parks or on streets. Instead, we must learn to (5) __________ so it can be recycled properly. Using (6)__________ plastic items less often helps reduce pollution. Energy use is another important issue. We need to save energy and water and use more (7)__________ like (8) __________ and wind power from (9)__________. Some places have (10) __________ that pollute a lot, but new technology helps make energy cleaner. Climate change causes more extreme weather, including floods, droughts, and storms. We need to act quickly to stop these (11) __________ from becoming worse. People called (12)__________ work hard to protect animals and plants, clean up polluted areas, and teach others how to care for the earth.

Natural disasters caused by the weather can be very dangerous. Hurricanes and (1) _________ destroy homes and change landscapes. During winter, a/an (2) __________ can sweep away everything in its path on a snowy mountain. Storms often bring strong (3)__________ and (4) __________. Sometimes, hailstones — small balls of (5)__________ — fall during a storm and damage cars or crops. Heavy (6)__________ causes flooding, which covers towns and roads with water. Heatwaves and long dry periods called (7)__________ harm plants and animals. People may lose water supplies or food because of these changes. When the earth moves suddenly, it causes a/an (8)____________. Volcanic eruptions can send ash and lava into the air, creating dangerous situations for nearby people. Climate change is one of _____ biggest challenges we face today. Rising temperatures ____ causing more frequent and severe natural disasters such _____ floods, droughts, storms, and hurricanes. To help fight climate change, we must reduce pollution and switch _____ renewable energy sources like solar power and wind turbines instead _____ relying on fossil fuels. Everyone should try to sort rubbish properly and recycle materials _____ paper, plastic, and glass. Avoiding disposable products and making _____ effort to save energy and water _____ home can also make a big difference. It’s essential _____ to spoil the landscape by dumping rubbish in the countryside or cities. Proper waste disposal is vital to protect natural habitats and prevent harm to wildlife. Why More Teens Are Choosing Unusual Sports

from
In

____ recent years, many teenagers have started to turn away ______ traditional team sports like football or basketball. Instead, they are exploring _____ common activities such as orienteering, rollerblading, and even show jumping. One reason for this shift is variety. Teens want _____ try something new and exciting. “I love the adventure in orienteering,” says 15-year-old Zosia. “You get to run in nature, use a map, and think fast.” Another reason is individuality. Some young people feel more comfortable doing sports where they don’t have to rely _____ a team. In sports like snowboarding or ice-skating, they can progress _____ their own pace and focus _____ personal goals. Many schools are now offering classes in sports _____ fencing, climbing, and skiing. These classes _____ only improve fitness but also teach valuable life skills like perseverance and discipline. Equipment and facilities have also improved. Local sports centres now have climbing walls, better ski slopes, and even indoor ice-skating rinks. That makes it easier _____ young people to try these new activities. Experts say the trend is likely _____ continue, with more and more teenagers skipping the usual match or tournament for something that gives them a sense ____ freedom and fun. Whether it’s diving into the deep sea or jumping over obstacles on horseback, today’s teens are showing us that there’s _____ than one way to stay active and healthy. The competition was challenging, but it taught me the value of hard work _____ determination. I can’t wait for the next season to start and to try new sports activities.

How to use

The aim of these activities is to review vocabulary sets at the level of B1/B1+ especially with students preparing for the 8th grader's exam. The set contains 2 topics based on Repetytorium ósmoklasisty, Nowa Era, Nature and Sport. The teacher gets two types of cloze texts that can be used as a revision during the lesson but also as the extra homework practice to reinforce students' knowledge. Each exercise can be checked by the student independently so the students can also check themselves. Teacher's notes contain all the included texts with the correct answers.
CLASS ACTIVITY - show students the text and ask them to work it out themselves. Check the activity when everybody has finished. CLASS COMPETITION - divide students into groups/pairs and give them a limited amount of time. Ask ss to work out the answers together. Finally check the answers with the students aloud and assign points for each correct answer. SMALL GROUPS - divide students into small groups of 3/4 and ask them to sit together. Tell them to read sentence by sentence each and fill in the missing infortmation. Then check together on the board.
