“Through silent gates your path shall wind, With pass in hand, no turn behind. On Smalls Wynd’s edge, where learners meet, A hub of thought on a central street. Among the four, it holds the key— This is the one you’re meant to see.”

Not all paths lead forward. Some loop back upon themselves. You have chosen... poorly. The Circle of Silence has been invoked. You must now wait before your next attempt. Use this pause to reflect. Reread. Rethink. Reawaken your curiosity. When the sands have fallen, and time grants you another chance—try again. But remember: not every book opens to the right page on the first turn.

You have come far and proven yourself worthy of my final challenge. Three puzzles are hidden in this room. Each will provide two digits which combine to open the box. The box contains the secrets you seek. Good luck.

You have followed every clue, read between the lines, and met each challenge with determination. You have seen what others overlooked. You have proven yourself worthy. And now, the final truth: There is no secret order. There is no shadow society. There is only the Library. The quiet constant. The keeper of questions. The guardian of knowledge. If you are curious, you are welcome. If you seek evidence, you are one of us. If you question, investigate, and learn—you are already a member. This was your initiation. Welcome to the Library. Where all great searches truly begin.
Begin where silence reigns and screens glow bright, Twin monitors gleam in the absence of light. Next, to the pod where continents meet, A space for many, where ideas compete. Then seek the ones who know and guide— Their desk awaits with truth inside. Mark each place with care, then link the three— Where lines enclose, your answer will be.
You’ve reached the shelves where knowledge grows, Filed in numbers every reader knows. But not all tomes are meant to stay— Some truths grow stale, then fade away. Let Dewey’s logic guide your hand: Place each book where it must stand. Then scan the spines, aligned just right— A single word will come to light. Yet linger not on what’s past due— Remove old shells, worn through and through. Recycling waits for what’s outgrown— Only then will the path be shown.
The box is locked. Looks like it needs a six-digit code to open...
I have the code!

Locating a book on the shelf
What is a classmark/shelfmark?
As you walk round a Library you will notice that books on the same subject are all in roughly the same area of the Library. This is because every book carries a label on the spine indicating where on the shelves it will be filed. The label usually contains a three-figure number followed by a decimal point, with numbers and letters following this decimal point. These numbers aren't random - they correspond with specific subjects. We use the Dewey Decimal System to classify subjects.
How to read a classmark/shelfmark
Focus on the number before the decimal point first – this represents the topic. Once you have located this section in the shelves look at the numbers after the decimal point – this represents the narrower subject within the wider topic. The letters after this number refer to the author’s surname.
Pay attention to the edition number
Sometimes there may be more than one edition of a title on the shelf. Generally you want to consult the newest edition available to ensure you base your research on the latest evidence. The edition number is usually on the spine or front cover of the book. A second edition will be more recent than a first edition etc.
Important info and clues!
My bag is so heavy today, I really need to upgrade my laptop to something lighter. I think I remember being told the library has lockers I can use...
I wonder if that riddle from the Owl I found when investigating the book might be a clue? Looking for the book on Library Search should hopefully reveal the shelfmark which from memory should look something like this...
You have never placed a book reservation before, however you are drawn to the books on these shelves. The books are ordered alphabetically by first name. Your eyes track to where any future books you reserve would be placed and you are surprised to find a book with a white paper slip with your own name peeking out...
Investigate the book
Not all books wear names with pride— One hides its spine, its mark denied. A tale of ghosts, by Riddell penned, Its place concealed, but not the end. To find the path where secrets lurk, You must begin the digital work. Seek “Weird Stories” through Library Search. Only the true shelf mark reveals your next step.
Library Search
To the One Who Has Found This Note, Not all students walk the same path. Some wander deeper into the stacks of time, seeking not just answers—but truth. You are one such soul. We are the Bibliothecarii Veritas. We exist between pages, between whispers, in footnotes too small for the untrained eye. Our mission: to protect and preserve forgotten knowledge... and to pass it on to those worthy. But knowledge is not gifted freely. To earn your place among us, you must prove your worth—not just with wit, but with patience, perception, and a willingness to follow the trail where others see only dust. Your first trial begins now.
