FYD 101 Library Scavenger Hunt

Welcome to Richter Library
As part of the FYD 101 Library Guest Presentation, you are tasked with finding Sebastian, our college mascot. He is currently missing in the library, and you have to retrace his footsteps. The scavenger hunt will take 15 minutes. Your first stop is the Access Services desk. Once finished with the scavenger hunt, you can upload the completion certificate to Cane Commitment to receive credit!

Equipment Loans:Offers items such as chargers, calculators, headphones, dry-erase markers for borrowing on a first come/first-served basis.
Interlibrary Loan: Access to research materials which are not available at the UM Libraries at no additional charge.
Study Spaces: Access to individual study pods or study rooms available either on first come/first-served basis or booked in advance.

Course Reserves: Provide access to supplemental course material assigned by an instructor, including electronic articles, PDF files, e-books, streaming media.
Laptop Lending Program:Offers Dell and Mac laptops to UM students, faculty, and staff of the University of Miami on a first come/first-served basis.

Correct! It's called the Consultation ZoneThe Consultation Zone is where our Peer Research Consultants can be found! They are undergrad and grad students from a variety of majors. Our Peer Research Consultants can assist you with:

Finding Scholarly Resources
Faciliating meetings with other Learning Commons experts
Sebastian noticed that there are two other academic resources next to the Consultation Zone that can help him with future assignments.
Great job! The Writing Center and Math Lab surround the Consulation Zone.
Math Lab provides tutoring to any student enrolled in an undergraduate math course at the University of Miami.

Sebastian finds out from the Peer Research Consultant that he can go to the Creative Studio to ask for help about designing and printing a poster using Adobe InDesign. Navigate to the Creative Studio located on the 1st floor of Richter.

Once Sebastian finished up with looking at the games he could play, he went into the Creative Studio and asked about how to use Adobe InDesign and how he could print his poster for class. While Sebastian was in the Creative Studio, he noticed there are 3D printers. How many 3D printers can you spot?

After the Creative Studio, Sebastian was spotted heading up to the 2nd FloorThe second part of this scavenger hunt is to go up to the 2nd floor. You can either use the stairs or the elevators by Access Services.
Sebastian realizes he forgot to print out his assignment for class and rushed to the printers.
Correct! Print, photocopy, and scanning services are provided by UPrint and require the use of a UM Cane Card.
