Technology is all around us — at home, in school, and even in our pockets. In the itchen, we have a (1) _________ that helps us heat food in just a few seconds, and a bright (2) _________ that lights up when it’s dark. In the living room, some families still use a (3) _________ to play music, but now most people prefer a (4) _________ or stream songs online. At school, we have a (5) _________ to print our worksheets and sometimes need to (6) _________ documents from textbooks. We also use a (7)___________ when we video call a partner school abroad. In ICT class, we learn to use a (8) ___________ to improve photos and edit projects. Many students carry a (9) ___________ in their phones or cameras to store pictures. If they run out of space, they learn how to (10)___________ memory or move data to a (11) _________ . Some of us even use an/a (12)__________ to read books instead of carrying paper copies. Calling someone abroad used to mean making a (13)___________ calls from a (14) _________ , but now we can use apps or email. Each student has their own (15) ___________ and learns how to use it safely. Sometimes, when a device freezes, we need to (16) ___________ it. Understanding the difference between (17)___________ (the physical parts) and (18) ___________ (the programs) is also part of our learning. At home, a (19)___________ is always nearby so we can power our gadgets. Whether we're using a (20)___________ , taking photos, or reading e-books, technology helps us every day.

A Lesson in Space and Science

Last week, our school organised a special event to help students learn more _____ space exploration and the world of science ______ technology. We invited a guest speaker – a young inventor _____ designed a new type of spaceship. He spoke about his work and _____ difficult it was to prove a theory about the way spaceships move through outer space. Students also had a chance to _____ part in workshops. In one of them, we used a telescope to look ____ the Moon and some distant stars in our galaxy. We also had a science quiz where we had to match facts with discoveries, including the theory _____ evolution and the solar system. Many students said they were surprised _____ learn how much research goes into even the smallest space project. After the workshops, some students wrote short blog entries and posted comments about ______ experience. Others used a photo editor to create posters for our science board. A few students helped charge the batteries and plug _____ all the hardware before the event started – thanks to them, everything worked perfectly. Events _____ this help students get inspired and maybe become future scientists, engineers, or even astronauts. We hope to organise another space event next term!

How to use

The aim of these activities is to review vocabulary sets at the level of B1/B1+ especially with students preparing for the 8th grader's exam. The set contains 2 topics based on Repetytorium ósmoklasisty, Nowa Era, Technology and Food. The teacher gets two types of cloze texts that can be used as a revision during the lesson but also as the extra homework practice to reinforce students' knowledge. Each exercise can be checked by the student independently so the students can also check themselves. Teacher's notes contain all the included texts with the correct answers.
CLASS ACTIVITY - show students the text and ask them to work it out themselves. Check the activity when everybody has finished. CLASS COMPETITION - divide students into groups/pairs and give them a limited amount of time. Ask ss to work out the answers together. Finally check the answers with the students aloud and assign points for each correct answer. SMALL GROUPS - divide students into small groups of 3/4 and ask them to sit together. Tell them to read sentence by sentence each and fill in the missing infortmation. Then check together on the board.
