I'm ready!

Olivia, a member of the sales team, attends an all-department meeting which focuses on the launch of a competing brand. One of the engineers points out that one of the competitor's products has features very similar to the WF-04CD010-1 model. The competitor's product is being sold online for $155.00.

Olivia notes that the WF-04 is a Water Flosser (and likely a countertop model based on the image of the competing product), and that its Model Number is 04.

Using the Model Number and her Job Aid, she quickly identifies the product in question as the "Sidekick", and reviews corresponding information such as its MSRP and features.

When one of the Marketing executives inquires how the price of the WF-04 compares to its competitor, Olivia is able to confidently respond that it’s $139.99, so about $20.00 less than its competitor. This allows the marketing and sales team to make a quick decision about how they might use this comparison in an upcoming ad campaign.

While certain features have already been discussed (flossing time, pressure settings, etc.,) the chart also provides information about additional features for each individual product.

Product Category

Products on the chart are grouped by their category. You should already be familiar with the product categories, their abbreviations, and their functions. However, if you need a refresher, this information is included under the "Abbreviations" tab of the Product Chart.

Accessories refer to anything that is included with the purchase of the product such as additional flossing wand tips, brush heads, batteries, travel cases, or whitening tablets.

Derivative

These two numbers indicate whether or not a specific product is a derivative of a previous model. Any number higher that 01 indicates that it is the second (third, or fourth, etc.) derivative of the original version. Most of the time, these two numbers are 01, meaning the product represents the original version.

The shelf name is the customer-facing name of a product, and the name that is used in any marketing campaign. For instance, the WP-72 is called the "Classic Professional." Every Model ID Number has its unique shelf name. Products are often referred to by either their Model ID Number or their shelf name.

Accent

Although this section of the code is not present with earlier models, newer ones should use this number to indicate accent colors if the product has them.

1 Shiny Chrome 2 Satiny Chrome 3 Copper 9 Rose Gold

Channels (or distribution channels) refer to the pathway(s) through which a product travels to reach the consumer. Waterpik products are sold through a combination of brick and mortar stores and online distributors. Since some distributors require the exclusive rights to a model, an awareness of which products are sold through which channels is essential.

Model ID Number

As mentioned earlier, the Model ID Number refers to a specific product model. There are multiple product models within most product categories.

Each Model ID is also associated with a shelf name. For instance, the WF-03 is a cordless waterflosser. It's shelf name is the "Cordless Freedom," and it could be referred to as either in workplace conversations.

In order to locate a specific product on the chart, you'll need to either know its Category and Model ID number or its shelf name.

Color

Although this section of the code is not present with earlier models, newer ones should use this number to indicate the product's color.

0 White/ Clear Resevoir 1 White/ Blue Resevoir 2 Black 3 Classic Blue 4 Pink 5 Radiant Orchid 6 Teal 7 Charcoal (or Modern Gray) 8 Green 9 Burgundy

MSRP stands for Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. It is the price that Waterpik recommends that its retailers sell their products for.

Region

These 1-2 letters indicate the region where the product can be sold, so it provides some insight on potential or current distribution streams.

Other regional codes can be located on the Product Chart under the "Abbreviation" tab."
CD is Canada & Domestic. These products are made to be sold online and can travel cross-border.
W is US only. These products can only be sold in-store.
