Lingo Flamingo links languages and wellbeing

Our friends at Lingo Flamingo think there are at least five benefits of language learning on our mental health and wellbeing. Check out their blog post for all the details:

Language Learning and wellbeing

  • Can pupils predict any of the 5 benefits?
  • Are there any benefits they would add or change?
  • Pupils design an infographic or poster of their top 5 benefits of language learning for mental health.

Speedy digital survey

Use a digital wordcloud generator tool, such as mentimeter. Set the question: What languages do you know use and learn in your life at home and school? Set a time limit appropriate for your pupils. Discuss the data on display.

  • How multilingual is your class?
  • What implications does this level of multilingualism have for children and adults in - or visiting - your class?
