The Brooks Family – Introduction
The Brooks family lives in a quiet house near the city. There are five people in the family: Mum, Dad, two kids, and a baby. They also have two pets – one is a bit unusual! Emma is a landscape architect who works for a small design firm. She usually wakes up around 6:30 a.m. and takes a short walk in the nearby park while listening to music. After that, she prepares breakfast — usually porridge with fruit — and helps Ben and Sophie get ready for school. She starts work at 8:30 from her home office. Emma spends most of her morning drawing garden plans and discussing projects with clients. At lunch, she likes to go outside and check on her small herb garden. In the afternoon, she finishes her projects. And after dinner, she likes to watch a series or chat with her friends online. She usually goes to bed at around 10 p.m. James is a graphic designer who works from home. He usually starts work at 9 a.m. and finishes around 5 p.m., but sometimes he works late. Every morning, he takes the dog for a walk and makes coffee for Emma before she starts hers. At lunchtime, he often makes sandwiches or salads. In the evening, he plays the guitar or watches sports. On weekends, he loves cycling and going to the countryside with the family. Likes: playing the guitar, cycling, watching football
Daily tasks: walking the dog, designing on the computer, helping with the kids Sophie is a student in secondary school. She wakes up at 7:15, eats a quick breakfast, and walks to school with her brother. She enjoys science and art. After school, she often does her homework or listens to music. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, she has dance classes.
Sophie also loves animals and helps take care of the pets. At weekends, she sometimes bakes with Mum or meets her best friend, Patty, to study or draw together. Likes: dancing, animals, music
Daily tasks: school, homework, helping with pets Ben is in primary school. He’s full of energy and always asking questions. He likes maths and P.E., and he’s part of the school football team. Every morning, he forgets something – his bag, his lunch, or his book!
After school, he usually plays in the garden, builds Lego cities, or watches cartoons. On Saturdays, he goes swimming. On Sundays, he helps Dad wash the car. Likes: football, Lego, swimming
Daily tasks: school, playing, helping with small jobs Luna is the youngest in the family. She is only 1. She wakes up very early – around 5:30 a.m.! She spends most of her day playing with toys, crawling around the house, and making funny sounds. She loves music and often claps along when someone plays a song.
Luna usually naps in the afternoon, and everyone tries to be quiet during that time. In the evening, she has a bath and listens to a bedtime story. Likes: soft toys, music, being cuddled
Daily routine: eating, napping, playing, bath time Rocket is a big, friendly golden retriever. He loves going for walks, playing fetch, and lying in the sun. He barks when someone comes to the door and always waits near the table at dinner time (just in case something falls!). Speedy is a small turtle who lives in a tank in the kitchen. He moves slowly but loves watching people eat. He especially gets excited when someone opens a bag of salad. He loves it.

INstructions for students are in the titles of the activities
The aim of these activities is to revise Present Simple in as many ways as possible and activate ss' knowledge. The activities are designed as to give ss maximum speaking, listening and reading practice. They focus on the correct use of the grammar but most importantly on developing the practical skills. The ss have many activities in which they need to speak, read or listen to different texts about the family's every day activities.
* Meet the Brooks
* Every holiday
This is a simple introductory activity which introduces the characters to the students. Ss listen to a short intro and match the names to the people. T can use it also as a way to imagine their jobs, their age and other basic information.
Reading - The ss have 2 texts about the holidays - dad and Sophie's perspective. At the top of the text they see the verbs. They must write the correct form of the verbs and put them in the correct gap.
* What do they do?
* Their Hobbies
The ss have a slide with all family members and many prompts to talk about their daily activities. Ss need to talk about each person using all the info provided. T can turn this into a written activity based of the same prompts.
The activity gives ss freedom to decide what the members of the family do, like or what their jobs are. There are no good or bad answers because the aim of this activity is to talk about each of them based on the ideas presented.
* Every day

The Brooks Family – Introduction The Brooks family lives in a quiet house near the city. Likes: playing the guitar, cycling, watching football Daily tasks: walking the dog, designing on the computer, helping with the kids Sophie is a student in secondary school. How to play
* Meet the Brooks
* Every holiday
* What do they do?
* Their Hobbies
* Every day
