A Beach on a Foggy Day

by Jade Anouka

There’s something truly magical About looking out from a beach On a foggy day. The soft sand sinking beneath your shoes As the waves kiss And retract from you Calling you in Pushing you away Calling you in again. You can’t see how far you can see All you can see is sky The sky and sea as one The horizon nowhere.

Creatures fly into it Others fly back Changed? They’ve been where you wish to The mysterious space Beyond the fog Beyond the sea Where the horizon must be. That magical place you want to see So far away When looking out from a beach On a foggy day.

You look around You’re in a perfect bubble of air All around is water You can taste it The sea or the sky or both. The mystery of what’s beyond Sings to you Enticing you into a dream A day dream A dream of what’s out there Inside the fog Beyond the sea
