Share images, quotes and more with us and feature on our socials through Technician Week

Not a technician? No problem, there are still ways that you can get involved:

We Are Technicians: #TechniciansOfEdinburgh: Share facts about you and your role and feature on our socials in our visibility campaign. Contribute to a blog post: write a blog post about your role, or answer some questions and send us some photos and we will write the blog for you. Be a guest on our podcast: Talk about your career journey and role on our podcast, sharing your experiences and insights.

Share a quote: provide us with a short quote about the importance of technical staff and how they have supported your projects or teaching, along with a photo of you. 90s second video: Send us a video talking about how technical staff have been involved in your work and highlight their contributions and impact. Technician-Led Tours: (not social media but still just as fun) sign up to attend a technician-led tour. We have a number of technicians leading tours, showcasing some of the incredible work they do, in areas which are often behind-the-scenes.

Social Media

We will be sharing images, stories and events throughout Technician Week on our LinkedIn and BlueSky pages Be sure to follow us to keep up to date and share your thoughts with us using the #UoETechnicianWeek

Info

Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart stops pumping blood around the body, and causes a person to collapse and stop breathing normally. Everyone can play a role in the chain of survival, whether it’s by calling 999, doing chest compression’s, locating a defibrillator, or telling others what to do. Everyone is welcome to come along no matter what age it is a life skill that is super important. It can be a sensitive topic and a video relating to CPR may be shown.

As technicians, we not only assist with projects and courses but also guide and mentor students and staff, fostering trust and understanding. We showcase materials, demonstrate techniques, and offer creative solutions, all to help our colleagues and students deepen their understanding and expand their horizons. We are constantly learning and adapting, staying abreast of the latest developments in our fields to meet the evolving needs of the courses and the individuals we support. This adaptability is crucial as courses change, and we strive to provide the best possible guidance and support. This exhibition is an opportunity for us to come together and share our own artistic practices. It's a chance to build connections, learn from one another, and step out of our daily routines. This event is a celebration of the strength, resilience, and dedication that we bring to our roles. Technicians are integral to the success of the university, providing essential support throughout each term. Tonight, we come together to celebrate our pride in our work and in our artistic lives, both within and outside the university. Let's enjoy the evening, connect with each other, and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our technician community. This year's Showcase will include the showcasing of the winners of this year's Technician Image Competition.
